I think the people attracted to this want some extraordinary cause for the complexity of the world and uncontrollable parts of our lives. This may be more prevalent now with the belief the Western world is declining. Instead of turning to an older and more grounded version of Christianity that promotes improving your life and self control, these people attach to a grand unified conspiracy theory.

I have so much personal experience with this type of stuff that I refuse to powerlevel on it.

And I commend you for being able to stomach the hours it took to watch all this. For me, the David Icke videos were real popcorn thrillers - I mean there must be either an exceptional amount of Oxygen being pumped into the auditorium to make people high enough to believe it and not laugh, or the exact opposite where they have pumped so much Monoxide into the auditorium you are brain dead to what he is saying.

I have a family member that will believe anything - if it is the opposite of what is written by "qualified people" then it must be true. He considers his "an open mind" - an open savannah whereas what it really is, is a shit gutter where anything can be tossed.

Most of these people are beyond help. I remember fondly a couple I knew who were in Scientology. They left Scientology to join an off-shoot of it and then left that too, finally they ended up on the air diet. I shit you not. I shit you not. She died 6 weeks later from malnutrition while he blamed the evil hospital for their medical help which is what "killed her".

I remember asking him when he told me on the diet why he wasn't overweight? He asked me what the hell did I mean, he just started the diet to which I replied "Yeah, but you've been eating food AND breathing your while life so how come you aren't fat from eating too much if air is food?" He told me to fuck off and he'd prove it.

This stuff makes for some decent fiction fodder if you're clever enough, but my first thought when I started scrolling through this thread was "Are these the same people as Zeitgeist?"

I mean maybe/probably not but I was taken in by that documentary for a while. It was mostly "USA did 9/11 and religion is a illuminati hoax and Kennedy was the last real president and that's why they killed him."

I mean the last one SORT OF makes a little bit of sense considering all the fucked up shit the government does these days but I'm very skeptical of most everything in that documentary. Peppering of truth to sell their utopian lie.

It's a divers collection of beliefs that were suppressed and buried by establishment branches of their respective religions, one of which is Christianity which makes the early gnostics instantly more similar to Jesus than some boomer televangelist billionaire. the view of the world is all about secret knowledge and truth. you have:

1. a religion without a central set of guidelines and license to give or see a new meaning to texts without having to have a strict literal interpretation

2, enshrines skepticism by having a false god embody ignorance and hiding the truth

3. was and is filled with many people defining their own paths to gnosis/enlightenment so you get a recognized vague frame work you can make your own religion into while taking elements of yet other religions like Judaism and Christianity or iirc Buddhism

4. a testament against establishment control and information hiding via its history of being stamped out by thought police who arguably were less faithful to their religious texts by enshrining only specific texts vs the others that were more or less arbitrarily discarded

5. a fun dig through texts from various authors many of which were lost for many years and a new look into early development of religion

its practically tailor made for both of those crowds in short

I remember watching some of Spirit Science for a while because there was some stuff in the... less egregious videos that seemed interesting, and then he said that Jews were an alien race and I didn't think I was so I quit watching. One thing that has shocked me after seeing him pop up again as a suggested is how Spirit Science is no longer just Jordan, but rather a team of 16 people. (archive)

What I realized isn't in this thread is his response (archive) (and the first one which talks about it (archive)) to it. He has a blog (archive) which is very much now dead where he posted it. What's surprising to me is that now he's taken the laziest approach to trying to cover it up. The blog was linked on the Spirit Science meet the team for three years directly linking to a page which had the rape posts front and center but apparently in the past few months they've made a few changes.

Here's Jordan's new about. In comparison to the old one from the post above he ditched the link to his blog, whether it was to hide the old posts or clear up space is up to you.
