this is completely subjective, but when I got off drugs mid 2019, the show was suddenly no longer funny to me. It took me a while to realize this, but I don't think I ever found it funny. What I enjoyed about The Dick Show was that it re-enforced all my degenerate habits that I subconsciously knew I had to kick: LSD, booze, and porn. Dax's three favorite things in the entire world.

my theory is that Dax knows his show is a beacon for degenerates, and now that he's fading into perceived irrelevancy, he's begun to ramp up his outspoken support of sexual deviancy to keep the weirdos flocking to his Patreon.

My life has gotten a lot better from the time Biggest Problem began, too, and I also no longer find jokes about daydrinking and chasing dumb broads so appealing.

However Asterios can't keep his politics or morality out of his comedy and it ended up killing a lot of what made him funny. He is back to having a real job again and has to keep his stuff way too clean to be funny to the old audience and he is big on the associations he keeps can reflect negatively on him. Add to that his micromanaging obsessions, and yeah when Asterios is the star rather than a comedy writer or support it kinda goes down hill into unfunny micromanaged virtue signalling.

Not to get off in the weeds, but I think that Asterios was so negative towards the end that the universe itself decided it had enough and collapsed his life around him.

I have tried to follow his podcast of and on but it has always to me had the same quality issues and it has never been funny.
The biggest problem was an average to good podcast dependent on the episode. A lot of the time Dick was as and sometimes more retarded in Maddox, he just hid it behind a thin veil of humour.

I started following this thread when null was actively censoring it and he was shouting about his mansion and how he was prom queen. Since then i have enjoyed the several midlife crieses hes had and the speds and spergs around him like digi.

As to why I thought Dax was funny four years ago, well, in order to have a guideline as what sort of answer I can reasonably give, let me try with someone I still find intentionally funny.

George Carlin was funny because he would pick apart the inconsistencies and hypocrisies of contemporary American culture. Employing irony in the original sense, he would pretend to be dumber than he was, and follow the flawed logic of the masses through to surprising and silly conclusions. Also, he made funny faces.

Is that a fair sort of answer? Now I will try with Dax.

Dax Herrera was funny because he would exaggerate the minor gripes of life for a young single man in 21st Century America. By making mountains of molehills, he would illustrate the absurdities of modern urban life. In his dealings with his family, his girlfriends, and his work, I found someone who saw some of the same nonsensical situations that I did. It was cathartic and clever.

Or so I thought. In retrospect, maybe he really was just the prima facie whingy manchild, and I fashioned his humor and commentary for him.

Also he gets red in the face and ludicrously upset about minor frustrations.

The last time I laughed my ass off was Chris the Kiwi’s beat down of Stove, which I think was summer of 2019. At the time, Dax was rapidly becoming unfunny but his wack pack had potential to carry his water. Instead he squandered its potential. Shortly after that was his fallout with Asterios and then the MintSalad debacle. The rest is history.
