What autistic planet did you come from where a relationship has to be 100% trad or 100% modern? The people in a relationship set the bounds with their words (a little) and actions (primarily). Now their may be significant wisdom to picking one and tending to follow it because a proven system that works for most people; like the traditional route is going to have aspects that are complimentary to the relationship as a whole, and things that make up for the drawbacks of functional gender roles.
