The Worst Shows You Used to Watch When You Were a Kid - I.E. Childhood shows that make you cringe in retrospect.

the show may have been a breeding ground for fetishes. :(
This is going to sound like something Mrs. Lovejoy would say. But I think every show is a breeding ground for fetishes. Some grow out of it and some have it awakened in them. People are perverts and there's nothing to be done.

This is unpopular opinion but I'd say Dragon Ball Z. The fillers, screaming, long conversations, and the weird direction of the voice acting makes my balls inert. I love Dragon Ball Z but its hard to re-watch them.. It's hard to watch Kai too since I love Bruce Faulconers soundtrack.
I have a problem with the unending nature of it. Same guy at work was trying to turn me onto Dragonball X or whatever, and now they're competing in a tournament for the fate of the multi-verse. Who cares?

Speaking of b-plots nobody cares about. I flipped channels when U.S. Acres came on. I want Garfield, not these saps.

Apparently it was a failed spinoff of Garfield. It ran in newspapers for a short while.
Supposedly U.S. Acres was the passion project while Garfield was the generic slop to make money. That's got to sting a little.
Sonic X was boring, and yet I watched it every Saturday morning. I remember especially disliking the Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 episodes, which makes me wonder why I didn't just play the games again instead of watching the show.
I haven't watched Sonic X but from what I've heard they hurt the show by adding a human kid for the audience to relate to then made him as unrelatable as possible.

I didn't care for Sonix X. All the garbage characters from the games are fighting for dominance.

Shadow is an eight year old's idea of what his older brother finds cool: undefined powers that allow him to pwn any opponent with ease.

Sadly Sega knows their audience, as Shadow is ranked as one of the most popular video game characters. So, the conclusion is, we get exactly what we deserve.🃏

Oh yes, the kid in question, who was actually named Chris, is one of the most despised Sonic characters of all time. He's meant to be a sad rich kid who has no friends or parents who care about him... when he has several friends his age, and even if his parents are busy a lot of the time, they make an actual effort to spend time with Chris. There's also the fact that he's still a multimillionaire with plenty of servants who help take care of him whenever his parents are out of town.

He mainly exists to get kidnapped to raise the stakes, and also to steal screentime from other Sonic characters. For context, instead of Amy convincing Shadow to turn a new leaf towards the end of Sonic Adventure 2, it's Chris who confronts him in the anime adaptation of that game.

There's also his unhealthy obsession with Sonic. Chris is so obsessed with spending time with him, he's willing to risk his world being from being frozen in time by running away with Sonic, to the point where even Dr. Eggman told him to stop whining about having to say goodbye. There was even a timeskip into the next season, and even as an adult, Chris loves Sonic so much, he creates a portal to Sonic's world and essentially abandons his family and friends just to see him again.

Oh shit, I remembered Chris and hating him, but I totally forgot all about this. I think that part where he pressed the button to stop Sonic from leaving was my turning point.
Hmmm... Someone named Chris obsessed with Sonic... Foreshadowing?

Also Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the first cartoon from the 80s/90s was really bad. The first movie was pretty good, then the other movies sucked, and then I was too old for any of the (apparently better) future cartoon series. And the less said about the god awful live action TV show the better.
Not 100% convinced that even kids liked the Ninja Turtles cartoon. The characters, the theme song, the toys, the video games, other merchandise: sure, but not so much the actual cartoon. The 5-episode pilot is actually pretty good, then it kind of doddered along for a season or so before S&P turned it into a boring comedy where nobody got punched. Anybody who claims to remember a single episode from the "Mikey has a grappling hook" era (ie, most of the show's run) is probably within the clutches of the Mandela Effect. I'm pretty sure it's basically Candle Cove irl and if you buy the full DVD set, the last 9/10ths is static.

Yeah, I vaguely remember the controversy. They had weapons, but only used them on robots. Ebert still trashed them for promoting violence and whatnot. (You know, looking back, he was a moralizing pain in the ass.)

I'm not plugged into TMNT. It produced some good games, that's all I know. And the Technodrome theme is lit.

"How can we import this gameshow to the west... I know! We'll remove all the plot and characters and dub it over with a washed-up actor trying to be funny!"
I watched a few clips of Takeshi's Castle. Gave me serious GLOW wrestling vibes. Unfunny, Catskill comic announcer who keeps putting himself over instead of the contestants.

The funny thing is one of the songs Chris sang a cover of was the Japanese opening to Sonic X. It's just that because of how fast-paced the singing in the original song was, the version Chris sings is one of the most incoherent pieces of music he's ever produced.

Oh god the shit tier shows I've watched as a kid on sick days.
Pecola? Weird penguin box thing.
Coconut fred. Basically fruit based Spongebob rip off for the WB.
Yakity Yak, that shit still feels like a fever dream tbh.
And Kappa Mikey, I only watched that because "It has GOKU voicing one of the characters! It's gotta be good!" Little me was very autistic about VA stuff

TMNT was great if you were four years old, but adults would definitely not like it. And MXC was just horrible - I liked the concept of Takeshi's Castle, but the whacky English announcer ruined it. Kotaku tried the same bullshit when they attempted to turn GameCenter CX (one of my favorite shows) into Retro Game Master, with even worse results.

As for the worst show I saw as a kid? Probably Seinfeld, but thankfully I didn't watch it too much, because even as a dumb kid I knew Seinfeld sucked.

I have an autistic family member that's obsessed with Garfield. And goddamn it, that cartoon was actually pretty funny. I'd rather watch it than any of those '90s cartoons you named.

I genuinely think some of the old Garfield stuff, especially the specials, still hold up (and have great music). There is some small character development (I guess as much as one can expect from a Garfield cartoon) and a good message there about not knowing how much you might appreciate some of the people in your life until you are in danger of losing them.
Background: After pranking a neighbor with Garfield, Odie, who is too stupid to realize his fate, is impounded. Garfield finds him after realizing that he is rather bored without the annoying mutt, thinking at first that he doesn't really give a fuck. At the pound, Garfield is informed that Odie will be put down at dawn because no-one is coming to claim him.

(17:18-20:32 if timecode doesn't work correctly)

Of course Odie has to make it out unscathed for the sake of continuity, but I still think it's a very strong scene.

For me that would be Transformers Energon.

That show was really weak, the animation was bad. I think it is the worst western show of the franchise (if we look over the weaknesses of the G1 show due to being a 1980s toy commercial) and the weakest link in the Unicron trilogy. Also the low budget anime humor didn't help either. Oh also Planet sized Optimus boxing with Unicron. Okay, wtf.

The designs were okay, and it was watchable as a teen. For staying on model the 3D was a good idea, but the implementation suffered due to a lack of budget. Sometimes they pulled hand drawn parts when they wanted to show off emotions, but that just shown how much everything would have looked like if it was animated like Armada was prior. At least Cybertron, the sequel to Energon improved a lot on the 3D and made it look better and more expressive.

It even had an interesting 3 way conflict, but the implementation could have been a lot better.
