I’ve not heard of it either though technically under Oregon state law, it’s possible. ORS 109.640 allows for minors age 15 and up to consent to medical decisions without parental notification or consent, which includes hormones and surgery though usually it’s just top surgery.

Physicians who will perform any below deck procedures on a minor teen? If not practicing now well give it a few years...

Patient prep for surgery requires showering several times with an antibiotic wash, and patients with associated skin issues need a tailored bathing regime.

When necessary, I poll/instruct patients on bathing matters because the nurses just sigh and do it for them since they won't listen.

Most of my patients have not heard of a washcloth, body sponge or loofah. Some just sort of claw themselves with their fingernails in the shower.

A significant but uncertain number of male patients are unsure what shampoo and conditioner is, or which is used first.
