I can't be mad at spoony because it's pointless and gets old. His punishment is being constantly SAD. And I didn't think anyone could care enough about warthog to actually be mad at her.

Yeah, I've never seen the point in being actually angry at Spoony, especially at this point. Like, he doesn't really say or do anything of interest or consequence, he's just not interesting enough to spark an emotion. A lot of people in this thread be acting brand new when they go off on their tangents. There's just not much else to be said about a stagnant puddle.

The best advice Spoony has been given in a decade was when PPP told him to either kill himself or shut the fuck up and move on with his life.

Spoony isn't even stagnant at this point, he's regressive. He hasn't streamed in 7 months, the biggest gap in his activity on youtube to date, and his output on twitter declined in recent times too. Most of the activity in the threads seems to be caused by warthog nowadays anyway.

There have been longer hiatuses between Live Wires, but otherwise yeah. April leaving finally made his mind peddle in reverse after like 15 years of being unable to recover from every negative life event he's inflicted on himself. His meltdown in February was easily his biggest Twitter tantrum since the rape joke fiasco.

I feel like a bunch of these Nostalgia Reviewers aren't really people who are passionate about the media format they review, but rather they are passionate about the specific things from their childhood.

Take James Rolfe as a counter example. He clearly cares about video games, especially retro games, the AVGN is a passion project and you can see anytime he stops caring and quality dips he slows down and takes a break. He also seems to give a shit about modern games as well, so if he ever had to he could pivot to new stuff. He also cleverly allows newer things onto AVGN as the retro line moves forward to keep on brand without being trapped. His real passion seems to be movies though, so he does that as well, and actually tries to convert some of the lessons he learns from them into his own videos, but sometimes I feel like he's deliberately holding back himself to keep that early YouTube look and feel to his editing. He seems to actually care about the stuff he covers either way. Also he seems to actually like playing the Nerd character.

Spoony however only cared about a few games from his childhood, but he doesn't care about the medium of games as a whole, so his reviews went to crap instantly once he ran out of them, because he didn't give enough shits about anything that came out after his childhood to do anything worth watching. Don't get me wrong, I understand nostalgia, but there are two ways to review nostalgia if you want long term viability: Either you look back on it and say "this was(n't) that good for the time, but still like it and it is(n't) worth going back to it to play." or "This does(n't) hold up by modern standards and is(n't) worth going back to it to play." Then you move to older stuff you never played but still find a reason to talk about it because you care about the medium enough to go through its history. Guys like Spoony, and Doug Walker for that matter, don't actually care about the medium, they just liked a few things from when they were a kid and don't have anything to say about anything they've seen after that period.

I'm not holding out hope that he's going to have a come to God moment and change his ways and be the Spoony of old. I do think he can get his shit together enough so that he can work a menial job and be a functional (yet miserable) member of society in some small way, but it would take him being completely cut off from any kind of support for him to do it, because as you said, he can't be bothered to slot himself, so what's left?

Drudging through life in a mundane fashion.

I knew someone whose parents had to die and who literally had to be tossed into the street before he picked himself up and got a job. Some people just can't move forward as long as there's even the slightest chance that someone else will foot their bills. Parents who enable their bum children are stuck in a terrible place where they know they're impeding their kid's future, but just can't bring themselves to put their kid at any kind of risk. In some ways, this kind of thing is even more destructive than abuse, because many abused kids will at least know they're in a bad place and will want to escape from it as soon as possible. Coddled adult kids though, will want to remain in their comfortable nest for as long as they can, - after all, the day of their kicking out will eventually come, and why not absorb as much resources as they're able to before that day comes?

This could mean that Spoony will not snap out of his current state until his parents pass on, or until his siblings finally kick him out of their houses. I'm convinced that as long as there's even a shred of a chance that someone will take Spoony in and feed and clothe him while he sits in his Twitter Dungeon ticking his mortal clock away, we'll never see any change in Spoony's behavior. Warthog, if she ever gets her act together and earns enough money to support both herself and a freeloader, could stand a chance at having Spoony living in her very own abode. I'm sure Spoony won't touch her with a ten foot Buster Sword, but he'll be happy to sit in a dark corner of her hovel if it means he can avoid living on the street.

Wow, there's been a lot of Spoony thunk going on lately. I think we all know that Spoony is the worst you can get. Egotistic, and self hatred. We can always look down on that and see how far things can go. He's not to be hated like a marzgurl for destroying people out of spite, and he's not to be given sympathy for his loser/asshole ways. He's a dead zone of the worst of western civilization. A hateful, spiteful, self-destructive, nasty ass fury that's only going to go downhill from now on.
