Am curious about the head IVs I've never seen that done on anything but infants.
Two possibilities I see:Based on the previous post, I wont be surprised if she keep ripping off the IV needle from her hand. So the Doctor ordered the nurse to stick the IV needle to her forehead
1. she kept yanking or manipulating the IV in her arm/hand until it got loose, forcing a more unconventional pick so that she could look even sicker on social media
2. a line couldn’t be established well enough in the arms due to poor circulation/low volume (likely given her history of bleeding herself) or existing wounds in the area
Either way, the head IV is likely them working around issues she created. Typically if you can’t get an iv in the hand, you go further down the arm, and if that doesn’t work you’d try the legs; you can see the issue with that, so head it is. And it’s more likely to stay, because if they can’t get a line through intravenously, and she is hypovolemic, post-surgical, and needs fluids, well, IO is an option.
A doctor might try to explain that IO would absolutely suck to a normal noncompliant patient, but with her, it’s probably best to just go through all of the obscure IV spots and not tell her there are more invasive options.
