The video was something he made with a
generator provided by Distrokid, the service he pays to get his songs distributed. So it was probably fine copyright-wise. He might have just intended it as a placeholder until he got the real video done.
Among the many things that Russ doesn't understand is the concept of "fifteen minutes of fame". Pretty soon, the skateboard TikTok guy that Russ is so miffed about is going to be forgotten by the public consciousness. He's not going to be living in a mansion, never having to work another day in his life, with a harem of hot women at his beck and call. At best he'll be able to license his video and likeness for some extra cash while he's still relevant. It will be an interesting story that the guy can tell his friends and a happy moment that he'll cherish for the rest of his life. And that's still more than anything Russ will achieve.
