This is what you learn from cartoons. People who do real lab work know that, until the advent of CRISPR, it was a crapshoot to incorporate genetic material in eukaryotic cells. And even now that we can do so with some precision, there is still no guarantee that the gene you put in will get turned on, or that even if it gets expressed it will "change the whole animal". Troons love to say that "Biology is complicated" and it's true, but the most impressive thing about biological systems is that they are robust; they typically have so many fallback mechanisms that can tolerate a surprising amount of perturbations without changing their function.

Try hack into Windows 10 to remove Cortana. To hack a cell is a thousand times harder.

Nah he never stopped having "financial woes". First it was the pharmacy, then it was renovation going over budget, etc, etc.

And $200 concert tickets? Look I'm one of the craziest music nut on KF and I've never paid one-third as much for any concert.
Man, this whole "tax surprise" , renovation and $200 ska ticket (come on, any band established enough to charge that as the lowest price also has a singer whose voice is so shot to make it overpriced by at least 150%) saga has me thinking about the days when we thought Chris was the sensible Chipman Bro with a firm handle on his impulsiveness. How wrong we were

The tickets are cheaper on this site.

If they are quick they might have been able to snatch one of the $80 nosebleed seats. But I don't think they'd have debased themselves.
Why are there two different processing fees?

I am gonna go out on a limb and say that those tickets will get cheaper the closer to event date we get with unsold seats, especially at reduced venue capacities. Even before all this mandated distance, it was pretty easy to buy arena show tickets at 2 or 3 for 1 prices if the venue wasn't selling out (i.e., not in the year's top 10 concert acts) and you were willing to wait until the day of the show to purchase.

After a year without live music entertainment, I don't really see the demand for it returning to where it was

I don’t see this concert selling out in smug blue mask crazed Boston. We’ll be on the “Canadian variant” of the Chyna virus.

If you still have to wear a mask at the concert that’s a reason to not go at all.

Also, the bill is a ska band, a punk band that apologizes for being drunk and fucking weezer. Those are all also excellent reasons not to go to a concert

Hot take: Would you like more Bob content if his Twitter didn't exist?

I don't care about his Twitter at all because for me is too much politics and I think his takes are sometimes...a bit too extremist even for me who identify as a Progressive and as Liberal.

I honest like Bob content (I'm from the Escapist channel, Jack and Darren are terrific in their Movie Podcast) but I don't like Marvel so I'm usually out of most of Bob's movies reviews and I totally agree that Bob can be nitpicky and also he can be sometimes is not very fair when he has some personal trouble with some movie like the Sonic one or his favorable review of Ghostbusters 2016 which I never watched but it looks horrible.

On another note, I truly believe some of his videos are actually good like that series of him "Really That Good" like the Superman episode and the Star Wars one.

I wish Bob did more videogame stuff, I saw some of his older videos and they are interesting.
I think Bob wouldn't inspire such visceral reactions if his Twitter wasn't a thing. There would be a lot of laughter over his content and none of the fury over his genocidal tendencies, but we'd also be missing out on all the tranny and Asian lesbian simping
Chris should get his finances in order before doing this shit. Honestly, he could take lessons from my own parents on how to live well and not be poor.
Step one of planning any major undertaking (say a few thousand at once for someone in the middle class) is figuring out where the money to pay for it is coming from. An engineer missing this step is a sign that Chip will eventually inherit the lolcrown when diabetes has finally claimed Bob

How old is Chris again? Isn't he to old to have nostalgia for fall out boy?

About the notion of "God complex", I have a question and I'd want to hear from you comic-book buffs. Traditional morality tales, including most mainstream movies, have upheld the notion that playing God is a very bad thing -- you will at the very least get burn and at worse annihilated. But I have a feeling that this is not true (at least not universal true) in capeshit. Look at Tony Stark. So my thesis is: "In Capeshit, people who play God will literally become God". Is it a reasonable thesis?

Bob's content is trash, but so are a bunch of semi to mega popular "influencers". He would be far more popular and well liked by people in general if twitter didn't exist thats for god damn sure. That alone would keep fans who would potentially just use him for background noise.

Honestly I used to watch Bob on Escapist before his first firing, and it was his tweets and blog posts after that event that turned me off him.

While we'll give him shit over his dumb reviews, most of his audience were fine with them until he started doing opinion pieces. If Escapist had just said "hey, can you do two movie videos a week instead of one" or he used The Big Picture to look at old movies exclusively, he would have been fine. But instead he did his Halo and Mass Effect rants and everyone realised what a moron he was.

If he lost his Twitter, he'd probably be better off. But he'll never walk away from it on his own.

I can't wrap my head around wanting to pay that much for sitting (or standing) around in order to listen to music that you already listen too but louder. For someone who is constantly struggling and trying to do a bunch of renovations of the Chipman family shit shack forking over hundreds of dollars for a fucking concert is would be the last thing on ones mind. But then again seeing that Chris is a financial black hole I shouldn't be surprised.

Seeing a major band live is 100% this. Anyone can buy a Weezer, Fall Out Boy or Green Day CD, find a live album of theirs (Weezer, in the early 00s used to upload entire live shows from the Green/Maladroit album period on their website for free MP3 download) or bootlegs (Green Day or Fall Out Boy). Or even go through Youtube to find bootleg live video of the bands. But only the most spoiled of brats can pay the rape dollar price to see them live and they do so purely so they can brag about having "seen them live" to people who don't have the disposable income to go to fancy ass concerts to see their favorite musical group.

In my very cursory reads of capeshit, playing God is portrayed the traditional way. Superman deliberately refrains from enforcing his will on the world to avoid playing God, ozymandias is a fallen hero becoming the villain when he falls to the temptation, the wheelchair dude who created the doom patrol by arranging the accidents that created them is portrayed as very morally ambiguous (weird examples, but I didn't read a ton of this stuff). Most villains are seeking to Godplay, which is why those that aren't, like Joker, are the memorable ones. The timelines where the heroes fail to resist temptation are invariably portrayed as the bad timelines.

Bob just misses the point, as usual

When I think of mainstream conservative religious types I think of the Duck Dynasty family rather than the Duggers

Yeah I guess it's true what they say "ungle brother, hot sister"

That kid is retarded and has no basis in facts..... that kid on Fox News is also not as bright either.
Duggars and Duck Dynasty are two different breeds of fundies. The Duck Dynasty folks are wealthy rednecks who hunt and who cultivate a sort of outdoorsman appearance to sell hunting equipment and shit and who do the work to blend in with normies, including the wealthy sports team players who are among their main patrons (several major baseball players are silent partners in the Duck Dynasty's various hunting gear companies).

The Duggars meanwhile are closet ultra fundie Quiverfull types who fuck to produce kids per the Quiverfull philosophy that the best way the fundies can conquer America is to outbreed the normies. The women might dress and act old timey but the men are basically upper class yuppie types in dress and behavior, and they don't give a shit about fitting in with normies due to them being part of the 90s/00s era shadow world of fundie christians who basically operate in their own societal ecosystem outside straight society.

It's also the chief difference in their reality TV shows; the Duck Dynasty folk are basically rich white trash rednecks and in on the joke of being white trash rednecks because it helps give their hunting equipment business street cred. Meanwhile the Duggards were literally America looking into the above mentioned "shadow world" of fundies who don't try and fit in with society and who isolate themselves from the rest of world.

For some major bands, the live experience is something you won't get from the live albums or videos. There isn't any home media that can approximate being in a stadium full of people where everyone is singing along to every song and having a blast

I will agree that the way this experience has been priced for 15 years or so is wallet rape

In the Doom Patrol comic, the Chief caused the accident that Rita her super powers, experimented on his wife Arani to give her powers, turned Cliff into a brain he put into a robot body, and bound Larry Trainor to a lovecraftian shadow monster that disfigured him, because he had a god-complex and hated humanity after being crippled and wanted to create a new master race. He never quite apologizes for it, in part because Morrison (who came up with the plot twist when he was expecting DC to cancel Doom Patrol and ban anyone from writing the characters ever again) also establishing that Cliff/Rita/Larry were horrible people and that maiming/disfiguring/destroying their lives and making them his pet heroes, "improved" their morality and made them "better people", though we only got to explore this idea in the comics, through Cliff while Arani was killed off and subjected to gaslighting right before she died that allowed Chief to sidestep dealing with her.

In the TV show, Chief still caused their accident and in the case of Larry and Rita, both established as horrible people like Cliff before Chief ruined their lives. BUT the TV show also established that Chief did feel regret over what he did, especially Cliff since he accidentally killed his wife too and nearly killed their kid. The only one who became WORSE after being fucked with by Chief was Crazy Jane (who in the comic is a largely passive Moe type and who got her powers from an alien WMD that, among other things, activated latent mutan.. I mean metahuman powers in people) and she got her powers from being injected with chemicals created by Chief, who then promptly rescued her when he found out that they had manifested.

Also, in the show, he's motivated to do so because he has a half-Neanderthal daughter Dorothy who is an omega level reality warper and possible shamen magic powers and is the host of a psychic parasite that feeds on despair. And since she's long lived like her mom, Chief created Doom Patrol as part of a scheme to create immortals to basically take care of his daughter in the event he dies due to his own mortality and the fact that he was using an ancient artifact to slow down his own aging but that said artifact was only a stopgap measure and he would still die before his daughter even reached puberty.

I involuntarily went to a MLB game a couple of weeks ago because my brother's wedding was coming up and my cousin had come from out of town and bought the tickets. Masks were required and this was in Florida.

The thing is we don't even know if his finances actually are in disarray. He could just be e-begging for the sake of e-begging.

No. His other content is still complete crap. That includes his book, videos and his other writings. It would be more interesting to see if people would like Bob more if he didn't have Twitter. Or since so much damage has been done, if he never got a Twitter account in the first place.

Personally, no. Even in his videos and writings he is still super smug with a massive superiority complex. And I have no doubt he would still be getting into fights with people over his work. Just in a different capacity than Twitter. He probably wouldn't have acquired such a huge thread here. He has enough cow traits to warrant it, but he would probably still be in low three or possibly double digit range thread page count wise.

I keep seeing people bring up Chris being an engineer, do we know where he got his degree and what kind of degree it was? I don't live in America but I'm guessing they have similar degrees to us, with a bunch of 4 year degrees for the specific disciplines like Mechanical and Electrical, and then they have a couple of 2 year degrees that are usually called something like "Engineering Sciences". The 2 year degrees aren't exactly easy, but they only require you to prove you can do some above highschool level algebra and maybe use some design software. They also only really qualify you to do stuff like filling out spreadsheets for engineering firms. I've always figured Chris did one of the 2 year degrees and throws it around like he graduated Harvard.
