For those who don't know, Alice is extremely hard-working and subtitles her own content into English despite not being fluent. As an indie who can only consider this a hobby, that's a lot of work. I do think she's made a mistake expecting new people to constantly promote her everywhere, mind you, but the diminishing attention of the western fans who flocked to them is something that has driven other Indies to retirement in the past.

Jesus christ, way to immediately throw your entire fanbase into the same bag.
What does she think it will accomplish? That people who gave her a pitysub will read this and go "Oh man, sorry, i will watch more of your content"? If anything, I'm willing to bet her numbers will dip even further.

Not to mention she sounds super entitled.
"Whenever I stream or post a video, i always post it on reddit but there are only about 20 people who upvote me" is something I'd expect DSP to say.

The EOP "say the funny line" shit is cancerous but Alice honestly shouldn't be surprised by the lagging viewcounts. The English-language audience is far larger yeah, but there's also a lot of content in the language already. I feel like a lot of JP streamers bring their small pond mentality with them when trying to pander to EOPs and it fucks them up.

Someone should just write a guide on western streaming culture for the JPs or something so they don't keep making the same mistakes.

Basically Alice is frustrated and mad that she has almost 15k subs but is being treated like she has 1k subs still.
Having that many subs and low view counts on her videos is gonna get her fucked by the YouTube algorithm.

I kinda feel bad for her she really thought her sudden growth were from people actually interested and in reality it was just a pity sub to feel like they contributed to a good cause and that they saved a waifu. Those that gave her that pity sub expecting to be heros and now they are being outed aren't gonna watch her shit at all.

I understand how she comes off as entitled but if I remember she did tons of polling always asking for reassurance from the overseas bros and they always told her things like "yeah I'd buy your merch if you release some" "yeah of course you have our support" etc etc so she probably feels lied too.

In the end I say nothing changes and she actually shot herself in the foot if anything.

I think a lot of the bluntness can be attributed to the fact she's using DeepL, and she's apologised in her most recent post.

I do think she expected the sudden influx of 10,000 subs to do more for her and is upset they didn't, but I also think that's a symptom of the way people carpetbomb Indies with pitysubs and elevate those expectations in the first place. She's been doing it for a year and amassed 1K subs, and I find it difficult to believe her expectations were ever high prior to this.

Thankfully, I think a lot of the people responding to her have recognised that her wording is mostly targeted towards the boom in subs and not 'everyone'. Mostly because they're english-speaking fans who understand they're reading something translated from a person's second language.

She seems to have settled down from the emotional support of her comments. I checked her Socialblade and she doesn't seem to actually be losing any subscribers, and her AVG. weekly views are up. I hope she can kick on from this and maybe simmer her expectations again. 50-70 viewers ain't bad.

This kind of made me wonder about Aki. I have to admit one of the first videos I watched that made me fall in the hole was the translated clip of her talking about her low subscriber and the video after that with her getting emotional over the sudden influx of subscribers. And honestly, I've wondered a few times in the past about how many of those people actually continued to watch her.

The sudden drop in total views in both graphs I imagine is when videos got Copyright struck en mass. But honestly, looking at both graphs I feel like her steady growth the past year or so is nearly exclusively due to her own hard work. There's an obvious spike in subscribers but it doesn't translate that much into actual views.

The drive for pity subs did the important thing of getting her name out there. That's all you can really hope for with that kind of thing. These days she's consistently getting between 20k and 50k viewers on her VODs which is nothing to sneeze it.

The new model Ironmouse got looks so soulless to me. She raided Pikamee so that's nice of her though I kinda doubt the audiences have much overlap since the talents are really different outside of both never going outside.

You son of a bitch. I plan on finally coming back to talk about this, was fortunate enough to see the announcement just as it was posted, and yet was still beaten. Nonetheless, I'm very excited. Though it's kinda strange that not only is it "just" three, but that it's also referred to as "NijisanjiEN's first ever Vtuber group". Makes me wonder if there will be more announced talents beyond this. Also, good to see Hoshikawa helped with the production of their debut song.

Edit: On second thought, just three members on debut isn't unheard of for the company. All foreign branches were launched with between two to four members. Nijisanji IN was launched with three talents (RIP to them by the way), Nijisanji ID was launched with three (though they planned on launching four with the design for Nara Haramaung not coming out until the third wave), Nijisanji KR launched with four (but were also merged into a purchased domestic vtuber company that retained 6 members), and VirtualReal launched with just two members (granted, VirtualReal was Nijisanji's second [third?] foray into the Chinese market).

I was expecting more than three, and at minimum a guy in it. Looks like they're still trying to play it safe by using juat girls and copying their other branches with the retarded techwear aaesthetic, along with the fantasy theme that is quite common

Now that Niji has announced theirs, I'm wondering when Cover will make their move. Niji's debut momentum can be destroyed quite easily if they make EN and other Holo to shill the new members like they did with ID2

I’ve sometimes worried about that when I subscribe to some of the smaller indies - like for me a sub is more of a bookmark so I don’t forget about them and can keep abreast of anything cool that I might want to see, rather than a guarantee to ever watch them again. But then if everyone does that, it’s kind of unfair.

Though on another point of hers, I rarely watch full streams, but I still will usually leave some little comment, even if it’s just a pun on the title or something, just to let the streamer know that I did watch at least part of the stream and really enjoyed what I did watch. So while I’m sure some people are being assholes, I think some people do mean it as encouragement.


Also, I love that Botan is playing yet another small and weird game. I love Gungeon, too.

I'll check them out regardless, since I want to see how a non-Hololive corpo works out in the EN scene. But for a lot of people..Hololive EN2 will just eclipse them without a thought. I wonder if EN2 is close enough to being ready and they just rush them out to take the stage.
