General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

The new model Ironmouse got looks so soulless to me. She raided Pikamee so that's nice of her though I kinda doubt the audiences have much overlap since the talents are really different outside of both never going outside.
Soulless is a good way of putting, but on top of this, I feel like every new model she's gotten has been a step backwards. Her original model was a fairly unique (albeit divisive for some) art-style. A cross between US Cartoons and JP Anime and most importantly it actually fit her voice, unlike this one. Or maybe that's something that just grows on you the more you watch it because I can't really think of any Hololive members whose voice doesn't fit their model.

That's how I definitely feel. It was funny hearing a chola voice come out of a weird amalgamation of an anime and cartoon character. Having it come out of a standard anime model makes me think I'm watching a Mexican version of DBZ Abridged.

I wonder if Ichikara’s filtering process will be as good as Cover’s, or if they ended up hiring your average ENtuber.
Them actually being able to hit notes would put them above the baseline, so we'll have to see.

One of them speaks a little bit of Japanese, but I sincerely doubt it's enough to bridge any kind of gap between branches unless she's being humble. They all seem to list 'singing' as one of their specialties so I'm just going to assume they operate very similarly to the JP branch (fucking around 99% of the time but also having it in their back pocket to do performances).

My initial reaction to them is 'safe'. I don't think Niji are prepared to push the envelope just yet, but I think they could have done with a bilingual like Kiara.

I wonder what their history of content creation looks like.

I'm definitely late to this, and I don't know if anyone here will care, but about a week ago, Holo Bass (creator of Pop On Rocks, Green Eggs & Spam, etc.) released a deep-dive into COVER's Derivative Works Guidelines, and how he feels they are very vague.

The video was partially created as a response to Cover taking down his Hololive-derivative songs from many streaming services, including Spotify.

He even contacted a local law firm about this, requesting legal clarification.

Is not "vague", the thing is just word by word the doujin rule that exist since forever they even said that you can even monetize them as long as you follow the guidelines that is mostly "give us credits and be original"

Now the weird part is why there are exceptions to that rule

i could understand Ibasho but why the rest?

I think Hacha Mecha Miracle is the collab song with Curry Meshi and Poppin Kiss was for a game called Ai Kiss, I believe.

This kind of made me wonder about Aki. I have to admit one of the first videos I watched that made me fall in the hole was the translated clip of her talking about her low subscriber and the video after that with her getting emotional over the sudden influx of subscribers. And honestly, I've wondered a few times in the past about how many of those people actually continued to watch her.

The sudden drop in total views in both graphs I imagine is when videos got Copyright struck en mass. But honestly, looking at both graphs I feel like her steady growth the past year or so is nearly exclusively due to her own hard work. There's an obvious spike in subscribers but it doesn't translate that much into actual views.
Most of the pity subs fucked off pretty quickly, however a bunch of EOP did stick around and it did increase her typical audience numbers overall. Aki's hard work and EOP pandering is paying off and i think she's kept the same mindset of being very grateful to her small but dedicated fanbase. The biggest benefit of the exposure was bringing simps, Aki went from ~$38k from SC in 2019 to $238k in 2020 with $154k of that coming from after the reddit influx i.e Aug-Dec, and is currently at $411k overall.

I wonder if that puts pressure back on Watson to collab with the family. She shut it down quickly before with Uto, but now she's the odd one out here.
It’s all been apart of Uto’s plan. She’s been learning and posting a lot in English just for this moment.

In all seriousness though, I wouldn’t read anything like that into it. Uto and Nabi both speak JP and already have some sort of familiarity with each other so it makes sense that they would collab this soon.

Inb4 Nabi makes Uto a new outfit equipped with a shotgun accessory. Who knew that out of all the children, the angel would get a gun before the gremlin.
