Their lives would actually be much harder. Fulfilling the role of consumer advocate and product reviewer can require a lot of work and effort. It's easier to half ass that stuff and focus on the politics. Whinge about capitalism and some gender thing and you're done. You don't even really have to go that deep into the theory or the realities with statistics.

Needs an extra layer where the missiles are paid for by another nation you need to actively and constantly parasitize.
You can get bonus points if you keep just enough missiles to win a level and sell the leftover missiles to another nation hostile to the one you got them from.
