That Superman cartoon....*deep sigh*.

There’s actually a lot you could do with a young adult Clark Kent who grows into the Superman we know. For instance, a unique brand of journalism that only he can accomplish (cuz powers) and subtly calls out the failures of modern journalism.

Smallville was great (for a time), but an animated series could push it into new territory. They have a real beef with Superman though. He and Captain America.

Looking into it further, something very, very weird has come up.

This specific race and sexuality swap was done a good few years before it became the new, cool thing to do, and unlike all of the recent examples, sort of had a reason behind it. Not exactly a good one, of course, yet still a reason, being that having him be a black, gay kid growing up in the Midwest made him feel like an outsider in sort of the same way Superman does. It’s bullshit, but hey, it’s bullshit with at least sort of a reason, which is more than most these days.

How do I know this shit, though?

Because, and this is probably one of the many reasons why Warner isn’t doing too great recently, someone decided to greenlight an adaptation of Max Landis’ Superman fanfic pitch videos.

I’m not even joking, that appears to be what this is. Back in 2015, Landis wrote a Superman miniseries called American Alien that included this Olson, and then he got cancelled for some alleged sex pest stuff. He proceeded to make a bunch of videos about how his universe would continue had he not been canceled, and this series seems to include some particular elements that only appeared in his videos and not the actual comic itself, so this is just really fucking weird.

Having an Asian Lois Lane as a rising superstar journalist that takes a black Jimmy Olson under her wing is taken straight from Landis’ work, which seems like a bad idea even though it’s 100% likely that he’ll have nothing to do with the series’ production itself.

I do fear that it will somehow go woke, as have many other revivals of shows.

So if Disney is expecting The Owl House to be popular with that age bracket but only seeing popularity from 13+ year olds online, that could explain some things.

... what anime are 5-12 year olds watching? Most of the popular stuff like MHA or Demon Slayer definitely feels like it’s more for the 12-15 demographic in the US.

Mike Judge will have a big hand in it and given how he's made fun of liberals, I'm not too worried about it. I'd like to see Beavis and Butt-Head think they can score free stuff at a BLM "peaceful protest".
