That 3DO episode felt like a blast from the past, well of course it did, he reviewed 3DO shit like 15 years ago. But at least we got to see more weird-ass games which has always been the highlight of AVGN.

I always thought the 3DO was a failed experiment, like an evolutionary dead end of 3D gaming (along with most other 90s CD-based consoles). FMV games especially, it's just fascinating how they were everywhere in the 90s but now you never see any games with random live action footage with actual actors (especially the funny ones who are just random dudes off the street like Plumbers Don't Wear Ties).

Trip Hawkins had weird ideas in general. The 3DO as a platform would survive on them designing and licensing out new hardware over time and getting royalties for each unit sold. The successor to the 3DO would have been the M2 and it looked like a monster for something that would have competed with the PSX and N64.

D2(above) was eventually released on the Dreamcast.

The heavy use of FMV was understandable, it had the "multimedia" air to it and it was so much cheaper than animating traditional graphics or making 3D graphics.

I used to avoid Mike in non-AVGN related videos because I found his voice obnoxious, but damn, I missed out on so much. I'm amazed this dude isn't more of a cow than he already is.

He's basically just a thinner DSP.
- Aforementioned raging at games, especially games meant for kids
- Insults anyone that disagrees with him
- Cringey, edgy jokes
- Occasionally wears corny costumes while streaming (they were funny in the AVGN videos, not while spazzing out while playing games)
- Huge ego for doing video game related things no one cares about
- Incident involving his penis (at least Phil didn't show his...)
- Alienating his former friends (at least, I've read that he and Bootsy had a falling out)

He's also a thinner WingsofRedemption with his constant beating the couch and throwing controllers.
