As someone who has braved the raw stream in Twitch/YouTube chat now for a year plus undercover, I’ve grown to know, sadly, how Derich acts.
If you’re going to sock as a Derich, don’t be retarded. Saying “I’m cooming rn” immediately outs you as an imposter. I’m assuming no one here is doing that and it’s just tards from DDM or somewhere, but there’s a few people I’ve seen where I have to question if it’s really Derich or a fake.
As such, here’s some tips for playing Ipmong Us:
DO
- tag Phil, Derich almost always tags in chat, especially as “Hey @DSPGaming do you like X? My favorite Y is X.”
- use proper capitalization. dont talk in all lowercase with no punctuation And Also Don’t Talk With Every Word Capitalized. If you’re phoneposting, it should do most of the work for you.
- ask mundane WWE and Pokemon questions and/or factoids
where relevant, especially in regards to the latter. Don’t randomly blurt out shit. Get your factoids from asking Google as broadly as possible (“Kangaskahn first episode appearance”)
- say statements in the form of a validation-seeking question (“Hey @DSPGaming do you like KiwiFarms? My favorite board is the Beauty Parlor!”; “Hey @DSPGaming what did you have for lunch? My mom made me [some traditional Chinese dish] with X Y and [fruit]. I love [fruit]!
- be overly descriptive in mundane things like what you ate (see above), but only occasionally
- be a Chinese-Canadian
- be a pest that genuinely thinks it’s being interesting and helpful to Phil with its useful and pertinent trivia
- tell Phil you’re leaving for the evening and thank him for a great stream until he says goodbye, and persist in the chat for 15 minutes afterwards talking to Phil before repeating the process
- when in doubt, talk about WWE
- get upset at other Derichs in chat and passively suggest Phil remove them (“@DSPGaming there’s a lot of people pretending to be me in chat, it’s making me frustrated”)
DON’T
- spam. Derich asks the same question but usually waits 30 seconds or so without an answer and then manually retypes/slightly rephrases the question, so slow your roll. If you’re popping off, you’ll stand out.
- regularly respond to others in chat, or frankly even react chat unless you are tagged and it seems innocent enough. Derich almost
never responds to chat unless someone like Kingmichael talks to him and even then it’s like a 30% chance to reply
- make it obvious. If the goal of larping as a Derich is to sow distrust and possibly get the real Derich banned in the crossfire, you need to make it hard to distinguish between real and fake. Don’t
- correct Phil. Be a big of a sycophant as possible
- give money (this should go without saying)
- use incorrect names (use “Derich Ip” as your screen name, this as your profile pic

- overdo things. Drawing too much attention to yourself makes it obvious. Derich is obnoxious but obnoxious to a point.
