I should also note that the only real fucking reason to make an Eternals films is two-fold:
1. To introduce the Celestials, who Thor had a major multi-arc story fighting at the start of the DeFalco Thor run and who can be used to handwave why mutants exist once the X-Men come along
2. To introduce Sersei and Black Knight, who are at the center of the whole "Gatherers Saga" which involves Black Knight's evil double gathering an alternate universe army of Avengers who's world is destroyed by Sersei (via evil Black Knight's manipulation) and the fact that the Gatherers also had an alt universe version of Black Panther, which if they did correctly, would allow them to recast BP with Killmonger's actor if they need a plot excuse to do so.
Introducing the celestials to introduce the X-gene might be a good idea, but gonna be a hard sell to explain why mutants were never even mentioned over the spam of 10 years of MCU. Or do you think they will do to the X-gene what they did to the inhuman terrigen mistm get the Eternals to fight the celestials and somehow they let loose the "X-gene", so we can explain away why people around the glove are getting super powers.
Even so, I tink it will be a hard sell to make the celestial the new big bad guys for these new phase of movies. I know I said that the MCU doesn't need the comics for shit... but at the same time they still use a LOT of normie recognizable names and images to apeal.
Yeah, you average joe probably never heard of "Thanos", but at one point or another, he might have seen this image around:
And there is no such a thing for the celestials. So the most basic bitch prediction is Galactus, pretty much everybody knows Galactus and Silver Surfer, and they can tie Galactus being a celestial, even if in the context of the comics it makes so sense whatsoever) if they oh so need the Eternals to come back (urgh that just made my skin crawl).
That or Beyonder, which is a shot in the dark, but more recognizable than the celestials, and he comes with a cheap plot device to bring all these character together for big blockbuster.
My dream is that somehow they manage to bring it to an end and make Earth X, which is rad, and if they manage to make into this scene, I would start watching those marvel movies again:
Earth X is awesome, just read it.
It was total nonsense. DC heavily promoted that "Bendis is Coming" back in 2018, but the ugly truth is that Bendis is a washed-up hack who does not bring a huge audience as he didn't create an appreciable sales increase. You can also tell that he creates "original" characters like Rogol Zaar and Red Cloud because he's hungry for royalties.
@MirrorNoir would likely know more, but wasn't Bendis one of the writers who pioneered "writing for the trade" style that basically ruined pacing for comics? I doubt Bob would know about anything Naomi because comic books are well being his reading comprehension. Hell, it would surprise me if Bob read the instruction booklets for his NES games.
I dunno if Bendis was the one who started the trend of "writing for the trade"... but sure as fuck he adopted it hard core.
But he is hardly the only one, and now it is the biggest defence over a failing title over sales "well, it will make money once the trade comes out", and if that is really true (it isn't but whatever), and if no one wants to write floppies stories with a beginning middle and end, then why the fuck even do floppies to begin with.
At this point, why not just adopt the manga system, have a weekly big anthology with short chapters printed on the cheap, have people read it and get found of particular stories and characters, then sell the Tankōbon, I mean trade, when it reaches enough chapter, or the storyline is concluded.
it ain't like killing floppies is gona kill comic stores, they make money with magic cards manga, not floppies.
