If China finds a scapegoat, I think it's more likely to be Russia, they're a more acceptable target than sandmen rightnow.

Let it never be forgotten that it wasn't COVID that destroyed the economy. It was the government. Everything that happened was based on decisions that they made, so if your business got destroyed, or you got left unemployed, or if your kids haven't gone to school in a year, just remember that the government did it.

And also, never let anyone forget that the media demonized the people that stated a year ago that the virus came from a lab in China. The ones that were called crazy and ostracized are now looking to be vindicated, but no mention of it will be made, and the media will act as if they never went against what is now looking to be true.

I've noticed that the media in my part of Kiwiland have gone from reporting the percentage of people having both shots (or one in the case of single-dose vaccines) to the percentage of people having just one vaccine administered.

If I was into conspiracy theories, I'd say they are trying to inflate the numbers to encourage those not yet vaccinated to give into peer pressure and get one themselves. Alternatively, it seems equally plausible that the media needs to make the numbers look good because most of the people that probably want to be vaccinated have already done so and the remaining people are those that can't, won't, or have other reasons to not get vaccinated any time soon if at all.

Some doomers I know are already predicting another wave this summer which raises the question of how it could be possible if all these people are vaccinated. (/rhetorical)

Two ways to look at the recent acceptance of the lab leak theory by the MSM

1) China is in fact not responsible but for some reason the DC bugmen and their propaganda outlets have decided to go full press because reasons. This doesn't seem all that likely to me as there is just too much money invested in the Chinese economy and the corporate sector cannot countenance any restrictions in the flow of capital into China (the main reason they got rid of Trump).

2) This is a cover for something far worse. What could that be? Don't know but I have noticed all the media reports and the Biden administration statements constantly referencing "the possibility of an accidental leak". What if they had overwhelming intelligence that China, or some other state actor, released the coof on purpose? A good tell for a cover up is when confirmed liars start admitting the truth, but only part of the truth. It makes sense as the scientific consensus that the coof is man made is now overwhelming and admitting this allows them to cover up the bigger scandal which if it became common knowledge would lead to sanctions against the Chinese (costing them trillions).

They're just trying to take credit without acknowledging that Trump, Pompeo, and Cotton were right, and are hoping nobody notices the 180. In fact, they're trying to pin it on Trump because "he politicized it and muh racism".

And you know what? They're gonna fucking get away with it, because the normies have attention spans of gnats. They'll have buried the issue under a fresh new outrage by Monday.

I think someone earlier in the thread posted that at this point the elites want to incentivize the masses going back to work to stimulate the economy, but at the same time unemployment benefits wouldn't be as good as they were now if this were the case. Those in power demand absolute loyalty and getting the vaccine is another show of control.

The lab leak theory is interesting because it can go a few ways.

1) If it's man-made and leaked there should be telltale signs in its genetic makeup. It'll be obvious once it gets put under a electron microscope and fully sequenced out. The current vaccine producers would know by now. Either this didn't happen or they're keeping their mouths shut. If it's a legit bioweapon, the main question is why wasn't the effective mortality rate higher? To keep the world from panic shutdowns sooner? Lot of interesting speculation to be had there.

2) It's a strain they had under study, but hadn't directly tinkered with yet. Improper safety methods lead to it jumping to humans. With all the reports of certain staff members coming down sick last fall this is looking most likely if the leak theory pans out.

3) It's a strain they had under lock and key for purely academic research purposes but it got out somehow. Many of the major world powers do have hot bug labs with multiple levels of security. From photos from inside the Wuhan lab, I question if they even followed this idea. (Cue the infamous falling apart freezer photo.)

We know from earlier posts in this thread that many of the staff at the Wuhan lab had side hustles with the unused animals. I'm betting the standard Chinese corruption lead to someone doing something they shouldn't have and it jumped to humans there. (Insert all the stories of shoddy Chinese workmanship, sawdust in baby food, contaminants in critical components, etc.)

Unfortunately, I just don't see us ever knowing for certain unless it's option 1. China has been in full cover up mode for over a year now. Major data has been either deleted or classified and they've dragged their feet with letting international oversight happen. It would be a massive embarrassment to the CCP when they've been trying to push their brand of one party rule. Major economic sanctions would happen and a few countries might even grow openly hostile towards them. We've already seen companies begin searching for other locations in Southeast Asia to diversify their supply lines after all the shutdowns in early 2020 wrecked things.

This is the point. What better way to exacerbate shortages than to gin up a reason for a trade embargo or sanctions against our largest trading partner. And they'll get the Trump folks to go right along with it because they will feel vindicated.
