Plagued /r/TNOmod and the Reddit HOI4 modding community - When a subreddit for a video game mod turns to utter insanity

Ah, damn, I slept through the Gone Ham thread, although it quickly turned into an Anarcho-Doxer (the sperg OP) thread.
Anarcho-Doxer was really annoying, wanting people to join his shitty server. Also he kept asking me to help him pirate games.

He probably also thought he had an ally in me against Ham because I kept calling him a faggot (even though it was just banter). Nobody really cared about him though, he was the obnoxious retard trying to make a name for himself by the means of Discord Server drama. And he really got into the "Hunting Pedos" LARP.
Link doesnt work for me

TT might have a lot of effort behind it, but it's also a mere mechanics update. There are no new countries to play, and I think that this will severely diminish its mass appeal - exploring a brand new story and setting is obviously loads of fun and easily digestible, but a mostly behind-the-scenes update that turns "always do x" into "always do x unless y, then do z instead" with some minor global flavor tacked on simply isn't as marketable as a traditional country update. I'm sure that a lot of effort went into TT, but that effort will be barely visible due to nature of the update.
Toolbox Theory has some new proxy wars added in like West Africa and the Phillipines, so there is some new story that will be added into the mod.

The content itself will also be simply not that popular. Most important countries people would actually want to play like Germany or the US are already finished, and convincing people to care about a nation they never even heard of before is an immensely difficult task. Who gives a shit about Guangdong, or the Levant? Ireland, which released with CRF, had the same issue, and barely anyone plays it - hell, most players don't even know it's playable at all.
There was an entire meme on the TNO subreddit that Indonesia was playable. I think that the first few content updates like Europas Narben have some new content that people will be very interested in, such as Ostland or Moskowien. But Guangdong is quite interesting if you are interested in the Sphere at all imo.

The Asia writing in TNO in general is really weird if you know the history of the region. Fringe fascist Bose who only mustered about 50,000 guys somehow has about half the subcontinent, while Kishi suddenly murders all his opposition in a gigantic killing spree which goes against his historical scheming character and would almost certainly ruin his legitimacy with the public and the emperor. The "great Asian war" doesn't make any sense as a concept either since any war on that gigantic scale in the 1970s would just turn into a nuclear massacre (think Soviets invading the Fulda Gap in real life).

Gone Ham is not a lolcow. He may be a faggot, a HOI4 modder, a lolcow, but he's not an autogenyphile!

This thread has become worse then the TNO community.

Both of them are hives of retardation centered around HOI4 modding with a handful of active members who despair at dealing with the people in it. At least TNO's making the funny Guangdong content.
Giving dramawhores the biggest scandal in said community to date is like a ticking timebomb - the moment it all cools down they'd be at each other's necks because they main point of why they were in the drama in the first place was gone.

Even if nukes are (somehow) not used the GAW still doesn't make sense and only exists so Asia can have a le epic massive finale war (Europe has the Russo-German war). China is already railroaded into becoming the economic powerhouse of the Sphere so they can just leverage their economic power to assert more independence from Japan. Challenging Japan in the one field they have a massive handicap in (military) makes 0 real world sense.

But I won't complain too much because the more wars we get the better.

Cold war era major wars with no WMD are no good. The fact you can't actually use nuclear strikes outside the German Civil War is silly when tactical nuclear devices were ubiquitous back then. There should be an option to go Douglas MacArthur in South Africa too given he almost unleashed the bomb in Korea.

In that case Japan can just nuke China into submission. Germany can do the same to whoever unites Russia.

Absolutely. What do you think would have happened if the USSR charged into West Germany in 1975? Now apply that.

This especially applies if Russia gets taken over by some edge lords like Omsk. Germany should just level them with thermonuclear strikes if it kicks off.

There is a minigame for Russia to develop nuclear weapons. However Germany by game start has a doomsday stockpile. There's no chance in hell they can catch up to them by the time the second WRW kicks off.

Speaking of Omsk their war with the Reich will be interesting since they plan to cripple German colonies in the East with chemical weapons terrorism.

A cold war era game with massive hot wars between major powers. Because that's totally what the cold war was about.

I want to see what the Cold War GUI in TT is like. Apperantly you can actually fight a cold war this time around by supporting your side in foreign civil wars.

Could be interesting. I wish they actually stuck to a cold war setting and didn't have massive wars that would just go nuclear at once in that setting.

I used to sleep on it, but now I think TT is an important update because it seems like a genuine attempt at converting Hoi4 from a war game into a Cold War political simulator rather than the weird hybrid we got right now. Knowing TNO it will probably come out buggy but it can be fixed over time.

It would be interesting, but if they insist on having gigantic wars then the cold war theme is lost. I recall comments about the great Asian war being worse than WW2, which would obviously involve massive scale nuclear use and breaks the cold war theme.

They'd probably twist it into a narrative about "Extremism bad" and how we are living in the "good" timeline
