It's really time to lock Fauci up and throw away the fucking key.

Called it.
Furin is an enzyme that is ubiquitous in the human body.

A new study discusses the origin of the furin cleavage site on the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, which is responsible for the virus’s relatively high infectivity compared to relatives in the betacoronavirus subgenus.
www.news-medical.net
The way a furin cleavage site works, your body's own furin enzymes actually help activate the Spike protein on the virus. SARS-CoV-2's Spike is also dependent on TMPRSS2 for activation, which does much the same thing, but to different areas of the Spike.

Think of peeling the paper off a strip double-sided tape. The proteases and enzymes in the human body are actually tricked into helping the virus prepare its own Spike proteins for permanent molecular adhesion to ACE2.
Let's run down the whole process of infection and pathogenesis and see why SARS-CoV-2 is so nefarious.
- Spike proteins are activated by Furin, TMPRSS2, etc.
- Spike binds to ACE2
- Membrane protein promotes fusion
- Envelope protein binds to cell membrane and acts as an ion channel, drawing calcium into the cell
- Virion releases its RNA payload into the cell
- Other components of the virus's Open Reading Frames suppress interferon response, suppress the Nrf2 antioxidant pathway, and derange the immune system
- Infected cell starts producing reactive oxygen species
- Mitochondrial cytopathic effects occur alongside viral replication
- ACE2 down-regulation by binding to Spike initiates a bradykinin storm that promotes pulmonary angioedema, inflammation, and ROS generation
- Nitric oxide is lost to peroxynitrite formation with superoxide, NOS uncouples and starts spitting out more superoxide
- Neutrophils go crazy and start blasting everything in sight with hydrogen peroxide and hypochlorous acid
- Cells have lost their antioxidant protections due to the virus's suppression of Nrf2, GPX, and selenoproteins
- Hypochlorous acid destroys heme, releasing free, unliganded iron
- Oxidative attack on aconitases inside cells dysregulates Krebs cycle and iron regulatory proteins
- Fenton and Haber-Weiss reactions produce hydroxyl radicals
- Hydroxyl radicals attack cell membranes and lipids and form lipid hydroperoxides
- Cells start undergoing ferroptosis due to lipid peroxidation (very aggressive cell death and inflammation)
- Neutrophils are summoned endlessly due to lipid peroxidation feeding into pattern recognition receptors as a damage-associated molecular pattern, or DAMP
- Lipid peroxidation becomes a destructive feedback loop that basically corrodes tissue
- Autoantibodies against oxidized lipids form (anti-phospholipid antibodies, anti-cardiolipin antibodies, etc.)
- Severe coagulopathy, sepsis, and hypoxia set in
The reason why COVID-19 kills people who have obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and African-American race is because all of these things have the same factors in common.
- Reduced endothelial nitric oxide (nitric oxide scavenges ROS and suppresses the virus's spike protein)
- Increased ACE2 expression on vascular endothelial cells (more sites for SARS-CoV-2 to bind to)
- Hypovitaminosis D and dysregulation of calcium metabolism and redox equilibrium (more runaway ROS production)
All of these things contribute to lipid peroxidation, ferroptosis, sepsis, and the ICU death spiral that some COVID-19 patients suffer. The reason why most people survive COVID-19 is because their bodies were able to suppress and terminate this feedback loop before it became a problem.
This is what happens immediately before someone dies of COVID-19. Their body dumps iron into their bloodstream due to the attack on heme. Unliganded, reactive iron. Then, this reaction occurs:

Hydroxyl radicals do not belong in the human body. They are extremely potent and reactive industrial-grade oxidants. They use hydroxyl radicals to treat wastewater and break down biological material in it.
See how dark that water was? See how it went from being pitch-black with contaminants to suddenly being bleached clear? This is what happens to your own cells if exposed to internally-produced hydroxyl radicals.
All you need to make hydroxyl radicals in the body are hydrogen peroxide, superoxide, and/or iron. See that reaction up there? Ferric ion (Fe3+) plus superoxide reduces it to ferrous ion (Fe2+) and plain O2. Next is the Fenton reaction. Ferrous ion combines with hydrogen peroxide to make ferric ion and hydroxyl radicals. See? The iron flip-flops from one form to the other and back. The hydrogen peroxide is consumed and you're left with hydroxyl radicals and O2.
Hydroxyl radicals are actually formed in the upper atmosphere constantly by the sun's UV rays reacting with the atmosphere, and this helps break down pollutants.
Superoxide can also react directly with H2O2 and make hydroxyl radicals; this happens in the body if superoxide production overwhelms superoxide dismutase and you end up with superoxide and H2O2 side-by-side.

In order to understand why this is bad, it is essential to understand redox chemistry.
An oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction is a type of chemical reaction that involves a transfer of electrons between two species. An oxidation-reduction reaction is any chemical reaction in which the …

Some molecules act as electron donors and acceptors. Reactive oxygen species are missing an electron, so they strip it off adjacent molecules. If the adjacent molecule happens to be a lipid, like the phospholipid bilayer lining every cell in your body, it strips electrons off of those and oxidizes them.
Redox reactions are actually essential to life. Breathing is a redox reaction. Your cells need oxygen because it's the final electron acceptor in the electron transport chain.
Oxidation reactions are also found in various everyday things like rusting, combustion, bleaching your clothes, and whitening your teeth with peroxide. All of those things involve electron exchange. Rust is slow and ponderous and releases some heat, but no light. Fire is rapid and produces light and heat in such a way as to create a self-sustaining reaction. It's all the same thing, just happening at a different rate.
I believe this aspect of COVID-19 can be treated and perhaps be prevented entirely. Vitamin D, sunlight, exercise, and fortifying vascular health are the main things. Exercise raises one's antioxidant enzyme activity, particularly superoxide dismutase and catalase, which dismute superoxide into hydrogen peroxide and then turn hydrogen peroxide in the body into water. Vitamin D helps modulate calcium metabolism and prevents oxidative stress, reducing superoxide production. Beets, garlic, salmon, kale, kimchi, turmeric, kutki powder, etc., all contain vital antioxidants that help fight lipid peroxidation. Histamine blockers like famotidine, ranitidine, and cimetidine could all be used to treat COVID-19, but not as histamine-blocking drugs; they are all
potent scavengers of hydroxyl radicals and prevent lipid peroxidation. Bradykinin blocking is another strategy to try and reduce calcium influx into cells and hypokalemia from potassium channel dysregulation. N-acetylcysteine helps promote a high glutathione level, and glutathione peroxidase, in turn, breaks H2O2 down into harmless water before it can form hydroxyl radicals by reaction with superoxide and/or ferrous ions.
This is why people with low Vitamin D and low glutathione levels die of COVID-19. Calcium goes into cells. ROS comes out. Neutrophil respiratory burst and NETosis destroy heme with hypochlorous acid, and there you go. Hydroxyl radicals.
Multi-system involvement and rapid clinical deterioration are hallmarks of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) related mortality. The unique clinical phenomena in severe COVID-19 can be perplexing, and they include disproportionately severe hypoxemia ...
