Let's Sperg Let's Play XCOM Terror From The Deep (Completed) - This is gonna hurt

And all the worries about radiation poisoning.
Bah, we can just make a makeshift radiation drug injector bane style into the armor. If a trooper is feeling woozy/feeling his skin peeling off, he just keys a button on his wrist and gets a nice cocktail of painkillers, russian booze and anti radiation drugs. No more worries about radiation!

What if some random junkie alien finds about this and tears you out of your suit for your drugs?

They probably wouldn't bother with the suit; considering the xeno get their fixes by sucking on raw pineal glands, plus they have that weird traumatic oviposition/insemination kink. It's likely our swimsuits are viewed as softshells, filled with all that crunchy gooey goodness.

Be happy that we haven't seen any Chrysallids, yet.

I can only imagine the Hell you're going through and what we're gonna see in the next update.

I never played Long War much because it's such an unfun slog.
Yeah some missions you really get your shit pushed in. But late-game there is a lot of fun stuff happening when you get a couple good teams assembled.

If you can put up with it, cheat your way up to the endgame and then start running rounds for fun. It is a shame there isn't an exhibition mode or some way to play random missions at higher settings without playing through the whole game. The expanded squad size really opens the game up.

Same for me, I kind of like some of the elements they introduced and really wanted more content for 2012 XCOM, but in the end Long War felt like too much of the wrong stuff. Never even bothered with it in XCOM 2.
But massive Chrysallid boss battle does sound epic, ngl.

The best parts of Long War were:
  • Squad size increased to 8.
  • New class types. The four original classes are each broken into two variants, leading to eight classes total. This also means there are eight MEC derivatives of those classes.
  • Enemies had their own squads, with buffed commander units that were in charge. And giant.
  • More skills and skill limitations removed. Squadsight and Snap Shot? Yes. And if you randomize perks with Second Wave, you can throw shit like Aggression into the mix for some crazy builds.
  • More UFO types and an enhanced UFO shoot-down minigame.
  • More weapon types and a ton of new accessories. Though like others have said, it can be a bit much.
  • A new promotion tree to designate squad commanders. Their perks can impact the entire squad when they are leading them on a mission. Offer more variation alongside psi soldiers, augmented soldiers and MEC soldiers.
  • MEC soldiers really fleshed out and SHIV drones are a lot more useful.
  • Fatigue after missions and item degradation and repair if you are really trying to get a game over.
Some of it may sound OP, especially mixing different units' abilities via Second Wave. But you'll need it. The aliens are very prepared.

Check out the soldiers and abilities here for more detail: https://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php/Soldiers_(Long_War)
