Also RuPaul once said that trans people shouldn't be drag queens a few years ago, but I don't know his current opinion since I don't follow drag. Actually a few years ago a Scottish pride parade wanted to ban Drag Queens as being offensive to troons. It came to blows.

"Pride" is an organization/group of organizations, and this phenomenon is similar to how a lot of Americans don't understand that the NFL is as much a private company as Coke or Disney. It may have started organically, but "Heritage of Pride" is a nonprofit out of New York.
