Plagued Consoomers / Consoomer Culture - Because if it has a recogniseable brand on it, I’d buy it!

The markup on branded diapers is insane. It's like 30 bucks for a box of pampers Disney diapers when generic Safeway of the same amount is like 6 bucks.

Some parenting forums I looked on swears by the expensive brands but I honestly cant see the difference after trying them out (on my kid, not me!).
Paying extra for something your baby shits in and you throw away is just......."my infant was wearing xer Disney Diaper and asked why black people are oppressed, I'm so proud!

This is why I align with all the newly appearing independent film restoration groups popping up over time as film scanners hit the resale market, if the studios themselves won't do anything like Hong Kong Rescue then someone else has to step in.
Still need to get in contact with the people supposedly restoring a 16mm print of Daicon IV's opening, I have a near flawless LP of Time that I can varispeed on the table itself and splice to match the original audio
Someone's captured the LD using a Domesday machine. The same man is working on Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

I agree it is neglectful, but unfortunately parent groups are full of mothers complaining that their husband spends 6 hours a night playing video games and ignores his kids. And those are the couples where at least one parent is responsible.

Then there are the people making and reposting cringe like this:

The dad's literally on Reddit.
"If I mirror daddy's interests, maybe he'll love me, too."

Much of it was ironically driven by the hobby shops themselves. RC parts were much more profitable, and thus they would stock more of those at the expense of model railway stuff. That drome more modelers to buy from catalogs or online, and the cycle brutalized the hobby shops.

The scourge of ready to run. RtR was a MAJOR push in the 90s, stuff that ostensibly you could just take out of the box, place on a layout, and be done with it. By the 2000s they had started putting decent couplers and wheels on the things so they could legit be run without modification, not always well, but still. Bonus: companies could charge nearly double for this RtR stuff, and people lapped it up.

You can see its effects in the manufacturers as well. There has been massive consolidation in the model railroad industry by the likes of athearn, bachmann, and atlas. Many of the smaller niche companies that were single man or family operations are dead or dying. NorthWestShortLine going under was a massive gut blow to those of us that like to repair decade old models instead of throwing them away.

And dont get me started on the "limited production run pre order" bullshit that's commonplace these days, or the inflating prices for low quality plastics where we used to have metal pieces that ran forever.

It's genuinely impossible to get the kind of cheap kits one used to learn on. Now kits are either pre assembled, babbies first playschool tier, or elite woodworker. Everything else is gone now. No skill involved, its all about spending $$$ to get what you want.

Of course rivet counters hardly helped matters, scaring young people away from model building for decades. When you have tons of coots who constantly criticize your work and berate you for any mistakes you make it's easy to just drop the hobby altogether. Thus these days you either see young kids or retirees with few in between.
This. I do tank/ship modeling as a zoomer, and seeing more easy to build models for consumers is lazy, I would assume. IMHO you get more satisfaction in building models then purchasing pre built ones

I've noticed boomers often fall victim to consoomer mentality. For example, they tend to hoard like crazy. Nearly every boomer I've met hoards excessive amounts of boxes (even if they're empty), as well as general merchandising like maybe Mickey Mouse crap. They won't get rid of it, even if it takes up too much damn space or doesn't have sentimental value. You may say that's a result of mental defect, but from what I've seen, it's deliberate.

Lawns are the next big things where they will spend untold amounts of money to purchase the best mower and equipment possible; cruises (or as I call them "boomer coffins") are also like this where they spend all their savings on cruises to random places that they don't actually enjoy. I don't know if this entirely counts as consoomerism, but yeah this isn't exclusive to Gen Y and Z

A lot of major consoomerist bullshit was born during the postwar era and a lot of people now had the money to spend on their obsessions. Of course hoarders who had kids during this time would pass that mentality on. The rise of larger and larger suburban housing only bolstered that. Lawn care was also beginning to be pushed due to the rise of suburbia as well, because you got your little square lot with what you bought. All of this nonsense has sadly seeped into the future generations since and has lead us to where we are with having massive walls of plastic nonsense normalized.

Call me crazy, but I do not understand why there are so many different versions of the pride rainbow flag. It makes no sense at all.

Didn't the rainbow flag become a thing because rainbows display different colors together? And that the rainbow was supposed to represent the different types of people in this world in a beautiful way? So why make 700 different flags now? It's so stupid, lol.

From a marketing perspective it makes a lot of sense. All the rainbow stuff with the regular flag people already owned and could reuse. If there's a brand new flag every year that's "more inclusive", people will have to buy all new merchandise. The new color combo looks terrible and has never really been used before because of this, so you can't just wear a rainbow shirt you got 10 years ago, you have to buy new products to get the new color combo.

Oh yes, from a consoomer perspective, it makes total sense.

From a logical perspective in regards to the advancement of a movement, however, it doesn't make sense. lol.

That part always gets to me with the boomers in particular. I knew some people in the WWII generation, and I know a couple Silents, but they only hold on to things they think are necessary or that they like. The boomers just hold on to "stuff" and they seem to enjoy buying more "stuff".

Most of the "standard" diaper brands have Disney or other brandings printed on them as a matter of course. So most parents aren't buying for the Mickey print, they are buying because it is Huggies or Pampers and they are known for being a reliable brand. On the contrary, store brands can be hit or miss, and it isn't the sort of thing most people want to risk, given that a bad quality diaper can mean your house getting covered in shit.

Of course these days you also have the other consumer category of non-branded 'eco-friendly' diapers (more expensive) and then all the really cool parents these days do cloth diapers.

Not to say that parents don't go insane with the Disney branding on other things, but most people buying Mickey diapers for their kids to shit in are just doing it because that is what's on the shelf.

Acknowledging that they don't need something anymore, or that an object is not up to date enough to be useful anymore, or that they might even have to downsize their living situation, all of those thing reminds boomers of death. Acknowledging your own death means visualizing that you might not be the center of the universe. Which is why boomers will not do any of these things.

It's a hobby that requires money and space. It used to be more affordable.

I can't take credit for this meme, but I couldn't find the original so I had to recreate it from memory:

Lego also trying to pander, including the Anglosphere

Everyone is awesome!!!!!

At least this way the colours clash less...

And allows them to pander by putting the race obsessed first, but I suspect the Genderspecials will feel slighted

Now as a Lego sperg I will admit that the troon colours did get me excited as these colours are rare.

The good news if you are a Lego fan, bit of a Pride sperg, but only want the original flag? If you check the manual, it looks like you can build it smaller and leave the undesired parts out.
Make sure to post a review on the Lego website with a picture with something along the lines of "Much better" and see how quick it gets yeeted.

Edit: Alternatively you could piss people of by changing the tile placements thereby placing the original rainbow figures front and center and the rest towards the wall/ facing the wall...

Am I retarded or are all but the last of your pictures literally smaller than postage stamps.

Also, a lot of the reviews are "bought it for the monochrome figures LOL" rather than anything supporting the pride shit. And this one spicy boy that might be a poster here:
