Pokémon (Not-So) Griefing Thread - Scarlet and Violet Released with 10 Million Copies in First 3 Days in Buggy States

To be honest, shinies aren't that big of a deal for me. Some are cool and all, but not necessary. All of the shinies I have that weren't guaranteed or from events I just found randomly.
I never hunted shinies.
However the few times I encountered them in any game, they ended up getting me to catch them for the novelty. I think in one of my Sapphire play-throughs I ended up chancing upon a shiny Golbat in Victory Road, and ended up training him into Crobat - which I otherwise would have never done.

If I wanted to play a Pokemon game for the first time since Red, which one should I play?
Heart Gold/Soul Silver

You are all first gen fans because it doesn't seem like these games have evolved at all, other than adding a garbage truck full of new, dumb Pokemon. One of them is an actual garbage bag.

Okay here is the result!! I'll look into Pokemon Crystal (my friend said that was the best) and Pokemon Omega Ruby (because that Pokemon reminds me of my adult animes).
I recommend getting the 3DS port because that allows you to do things like Mystery Gift and catch Celebi - you can't do that with the physical copy and it's comfy as fuck playing Crystal on a physical console again.

This Tweet has been making rounds on Twitter and caused a lot of upset and butthurt amongst SwSh fans. Even Joe jumped in to shit his pants. The op barely had any followers prior to the tweet and yet they were still discovered and dogpiled.
>Be Joe Merck
>The only thing you do of note is run some pokemon fansite that is run off of early 2000's HTML code

>Defend the franchise because without pokemon you would be homeless, scrounging for trash for hamburgers and loose change
>Debate a random twitter nobody because your ego was brused
>Copes with the fact that Galar is a britbong reigon and thinks that it's still the best looking pokemon game artstyle wise
>TFW your deformed elephant man ancestor is more successful than you

Cool I will do that then. Can it also talk and trade with the other 3DS rereleases and exclusives? Maybe I will replay Red first. Then go up the line.

Last time I checked you can trade with others who have rereleases AND transfer Gen 1 mons to GSC!

It's not like I am going to spend all this time training Pokemon through various generations only to port them over to Sword and Shield and have half my move sets be disabled by the game.

Right?

As much as I love designs like Pinsir and Alakazam, Gen 1 also has garbage like Exeggcute or Electrode.

HEY!! Pile of eggs and Ball are valued members of the Pokemon Pantheon of... uh. Piss?
You wanna see some truly abysmal designs? Designs so bad, they make Garbodor look like Charizard...look up the mons introduced in Sword and Shield. There are good ones in there, but I feel like for every Centiskorch, there’s a Blipbug to counter it.

-or Gen V and VI. ORAS was alright though. Mega Rayquaza was cool.

There’s definitely some trash in every gen, but 8 was the one that made me feel like a genwunner. Also, as cool as Mega Rayquaza looks, I wish it didn’t exist, the power creep went way too far starting in Gen 6.
Most definitely. most Pokémon could just 1 hit ko with normal moves with the Mega evolutions.

Probably why GEN VII just pretended they didn't exist and used those forgettable crystals to replace them.

Mega evolutions were still in GEN VII, but far less OP and had more specific battle conditions to activate vs the spam in gen VI. So it could be said they really aren't in GEN VII

(The z crystal had to be the same type as the pokemon currently being used in battle and also held by that pokemon just like the x-icite items which are also in GEN VII.)

Nintendo: Hey Kids, you know that legendary that is already basically a mega evo in terms of stats, what if we gave him a mega just to shit on other megas.

I assume that was the thought process, aside from because of primal forms of the other 2 legendaries in the remake.

Right?
Wrong.
Honestly, I jus train a new team every game. Find new favourites. In fact, finding new Pokémon is part of the fun. Otherwise, there would not be that much fan excitement over finding cut Pokémon.

By the by, while doing Crystal does give you Celebi, the gameplay, while better than Red, i still rather clunky. Pokémon do not hav enough moves tha truly do go to their Pokémon. I mean, there i still a huge lack of Bug-type moves in Crystal, something that has been rectified in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Plus, Crystal does not always give you access to the types you need (unless you are willing to gamble with Unown, a weak Pokémon that has one attack of a randomly-assigned type)... or an opportunity to re-match many characters, requiring you to pick and choose between 8 or 9 rematchable characters when the number can reach about 30. The story in HeartGold and SoulSilver is also a little deeper and more involved than Crystal's.
Besides, HeartGold and SoulSilver have the Pokéthalon; I actually had fun wi the sports-related minigames! There is also the Battle Frontier which gives plenty of post-game battling fun, whereas Crystal only has the Battle Tower (which at least lets you battle with Pokémon whose levels are any multiple of 10, whereas the Battle Frontier is either Level 50 or automatic scaling to any level at least 50).
A mixed bag would be rry harvesting: while HeartGold and SoulSilver give you a lot more Apricorns (berries that someone can turn into specialised Pokéballs), Crystal gives you more medicinal berries (items that your Pokémon can hold then use on their own) while having a find then pick-and-wait mechanic instead of the more involved process in HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Do not le the hate on Black and White get you; those are mainly people who are angry tha they cannot use their old Pokémon teams and think tha the ice cream cone and the rubbish bag are the only Pokémon added in the game. Black and White really took advantage of not immediately moving to the next generation of consoles, being a very polished DS game. You do not really need to use HMs anymore (other than 1 use of Strength, I think). There is a stronger emphasis on story without dragging you by force: these game think abou the relationship between Pokémon and humans, actually addressing how Pokémon battles can be considered a bloodsport. In fact, plenty of the appeal of Black and White is playing with your expectations of how Pokémon games hould be: there is also an EXP scaling system where the strength of your opponent affec the amount of EXP your Pokémon get. I also like how Black and White have surprisingly different versions of the same region: one of the cities i set in a different time period and has a different Gym Leader depending on the version of your game! The games also just have plenty of style in both battles and the overworld.
Part of the fun in the sequels i seeing how the same region changes after a few years; while you do explore previously unknown areas of the same region, you also are going to be surprised at how things that you expected from the last games are actually different here. The story also follows up on the previou story, though mainly goes on its own. The sequels have a more involved postgame, too.

Any of you guys ever play Inazuma Eleven? Gameplay-wise it ended up being everything I always wanted Pokemon to be.

Mega evolutions were still in GEN VII, but far less OP and had more specific battle conditions to activate vs the spam in gen VI. So it could be said they really aren't in GEN VII as sometimes the option for mega evolution or crystal usage would appear after 3 or so turns and sometimes it would be right from the start. Other times it would never appear.

Might have been something to do with the hidden "friendship" stat that no one talks about and the game pays lipservice to once or twice in cringe anime fashion.

Was actually worth looking into since if it was high enough it could make your Pokémon tank a fatal move even at 1 hp or even cure its own status ailments like paralyze and poison. Had it happen several times during the elite four.

(The z crystal had to be the same type as the pokemon currently being used in battle and also held by that pokemon just like the x-icite items which are also in GEN VII.)
I mostly agree, but I feel like you're not giving the Z-Crystals enough credit.

Sure, they were more relevant for their ability to potentially allow you to deal "fuck you" damage to your opponent, but they also added versatility to status moves and lesser used attacks by giving them extra effects. They made it to where Z-Splash gave your Pokémon plus three in attack!

Z-Splash was such a fun gimmick, I miss having that option on mons like Tsareena, Solgaleo, and Gyarados.
