To those suggesting that the fat is hormonal, consider the fact that a lot of Jazz's hormones are prescribed. Jeannette pulls all the strings. Were the weight gain a hormonal issue, I suspect that Jeannette would work with Jazz's endocrinologist to sort out the problem. She can't have her prize-winning show pony turn into shrek; it would interfere with the narrative.
On the other hand, if the weight gain is from binge eating or plain over-eating, the solution would involve therapy. Those of us familiar with Jazz and family are well aware that Jazz has an aversion to therapy, and Jeanette would have trouble getting Jazz to open up with a therapist even if she wanted to send Jazz to therapy. There is the risk that the therapist might put ideas in Jazz's head that loosen Jeannette's control over Jazz, and she can't have that happen
