General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

Seven people registered at once to post in this thread for the first time and I don't know how I feel about that
sorry if that grinds your gear, but there is no place to vent on a pretty big vtuber graduating.

The subreddit that people normally vent are on total lockdown.
The discord is also on lockdown.
And 4chan is just 4chan.
And we love some spicy rumors.

I don't understand. This popular streamer was fired because China complained? What happened?
Well its not 100% proven that she got fired because of Chink Niggas. But i guess its because of the hate from chinks

But they are pissed because she said once in the stream that Taiwan is its own country and since then the chink nazis hate her and try to get her to graduate.

This popular streamer, Kiryu Coco, suddenly announce that she will be leaving the company on the 1st July, and everyone is grieving at the suddenness of it. She have problem with China last year, and the harassment stay til today but getting a lot better until almost non-issue. A lot of people is coming here because reddit is on lock down and 4chan is probbably extra shitty today.

More like harassed. Long story short a virtual streamer named Kiryu Coco mentioned Taiwan as a country and because the agency that hired her also does business with the Chinese at the time, the retarded chinks caught wind of it and made a huge fit like the bitches they are. Mind you this happened last September I think and they're still harassing her to this day although it was getting better until they started targeting other members as well. Whether or not she's leaving because of that is still unknown but we're most likely thinking thats a huge reason why.

Can confirm that /vt/ has been almost exclusively people shouting bugmen, bugmen shilling west Taiwan, and people just being sad.

As fun as it is to doompost about antis, Chinese dick-sucking, corporate back-stabbing, and casting couches (get real), I think she just got fed up with Hololive and is gonna go independent.

Someone mentioned it earlier, but I think the "Fuck Yagoo" comments at the end of the Calli meme review were genuine. Not some big blow up, but she was expressing her frustration with Hololive's bureaucracy.

Think about it from Coco's perspective: What is she getting from Hololive? She's a top earner, yet she can't collab with EN. She can't do her AsaCoco segments. She doesn't get included in HoloGra. They can't even handle the spam competently (They actually bungled it even worse).

As an indie, she can do whatever content she wants. She doesn't get to collab with Hololive anymore, but can collab with just about anyone else. She'll lose some revenue (with Hololive out of the picture, maybe not), but who cares? Having the freedom seems like a price worth paying.

That's why the past few months she's been a bit more active as Kson. Testing the waters and laying the ground work to see if she could make the jump.

Hololive relaxing their restrictions on Coco collabing was their attempt to keep her around, but I think it was too little too late.

For many of the girls, going indie would be a death sentence into obscurity (looking at you, Calli), but in Coco's particular case I think it's the right move.
This is the rrat I'm inclined to believe. If my managers had banned me from collabing, veto'd my popular projects, buried me on the site and in their videos, accidentally shoah'd my channel members, and could never keep a lid on the spammers, I'd be looking at alternatives too.

Still, RIP In Peace, coco.

You know, it’s interesting to go from the initial post of Coco’s graduation announcement to here and see what people have already decided what happened. Like the narrative is already getting twisted and it’s just been a few hours. Crazy.

tl;dr She mentioned Taiwan offhandedly in her analytics last year and has been harassed by Chinese nationalists since. Current non-schizo speculation is that she's had enough of dealing with them, especially since the agency she works under (Cover) doesn't seem to do anything to contain the Zhang spam and harassment in her livestreams. Everything else in this thread is pure speculation until we get juicier deets.

EDIT: For clarification, the current PR is that she voluntarily quit instead of being fired. But Asia being Asia, no one knows if that's actually true.

Nobody will really know what happened but her and management. There is the Mystery of the Orient to maintain, and I have accepted it.

Make that eight

I wasn't really planning on registering before since I doubt my brand of autism could bring something of value to this thread, but this is just... It's been barely a year since I've seen her on jewtube for the first time, and now I'm so confused I can barely distinguish between a wild rrat and a plausible explanation.

I think the version about her grandparent's dementia, while probably the most tragic for Coco herself, would at the same time be most optimistic for both Cover and fans, because that's just a random kick in the nuts from life itself, not a corporate fuck up or chinese machinations. In that case we wouldn't have to fear more graduations, because the reason behind this one wouldn't apply to anyone else, while Coco being bullied out of hololive or leaving on her own could easily translate to other idols thinking hard about whether they're happy with their lives right now. It may be cynical, but the most shitty option for Coco would be one of the safest for us.

I don't watch these streams, just pay attention to the drama so I may be abit off.

About a year ago a different streamer (Akai Haato) from the same company accidentally mentioned Taiwan while discussing viewer analytics. This streamer (Kiryu Coco) that is on the chopping block to "graduate" or retire/quit is a different streamer who purposely discussed Taiwan in the very same way the next day to get the heat off that other streamer. It worked, but the Chinese nationalists Jihad was mostly redirected at her as a result. The company supported her, but many believe her company has been trying to constructively dismiss her to get back into the Chinese market.

Chinese nationalists Jihads are pretty extreme. John Cena recently mentioned Taiwan and his movie lost literal billions of dollars. He apologized after one was demanded, but they refused the apology. Even today Coco's streams are plagued by nationalistic Chinese who say slurs to get the stream taken down and the streams demand more moderators. This particular streamer is especially well respected for standing up for a fellow streamer and basically creating the English version of Hololive by normalizing regular interactions with western audiences.

She quit, it's uncertain if it was amicable.

She had an incident around a half a year to a year back where she was showing viewer statistics and youtube showed Taiwan as it's own country. Chinks got pissed, got her suspend; she came back and they started harassing her since then, and still to this day.

The company she was working for had their Chinese relations shit canned and had to cut off their Chinese branch.

Currently there is speculation that she got pressured out by the company's Chinese sponsors/internal management trying to get back into the Chinese market, or that she left upon her own accord and wanting to be free from the company which is known to be restrictive.

Extremely unclear and feels off as this came out of nowhere, and no one expected her to graduate (graduate in this context is some Japanese term for when a talent is leaving the company/agency). Announcement came out couple of hours ago, not much of solid evidence at this time to what exactly happened, mostly just speculation and sadness; still developing.
