For me, clip with Coco shitting on Watame's crap internet was the first subbed video with a vtuber I have watched and I thought to myself: "hey, this vtuber business is not only cute uwu animu girls pretending to be perfect waifus". Approx. 6 months later, when Coco and Haachama got suspended, I understood that I actually care about this whole business. And now I think it's time for me to move on - I will be still keeping tabs on vtubers etc., but I feel kinda detached right now. With the lockdowns lifted etc. I can return to some old activities instead of watching clips and streams (but my Japanese listening comprehension has improved, there is no doubt about that), so maybe this is a sign to actually do it. Or whatever.

Also yeah this is quite a blow to the company no matter how we look at it just because of the sheer popularity and reach Coco had.
What especially sucks is that prior to this we had to deal with non-stop Doomposting only for this to be the big surprise to come after.
The big lesson that we can all take from this is to treasure this stuff before goes away.
The only solace I got from this is that at least it seems that Coco is leaving on her own behalf

You know speaking of doggo, if we assume it’s correct to believe Coco informed people of this with some sort of warning a while ago, I wonder if that was the thing she was really sad about in that tweet she quickly deleted? If I recall properly she was sad enough she said something along the lines of considering graduation too. I don’t believe she ever elaborated though and basically just thanked her fans and said she appreciated all the worry and support she got despite removing the tweet fast. Granted I forget when that happened offhand, maybe that was long enough ago it’s not even close.

That said, feel this a lot more than I expected. I sort of figured it would have to be someone I partake of more to get my day down bad. It has had a hilariously amusing side effect of me reading tons of things in Coco’s goofy Mickey Mouse voice though.

I think the biggest worry for me after all of this is what a few have mentioned earlier. I don't want this to start some massive exodus of talent and have a lot of the girls graduate. (Unless they are joining some Coco created agency :optimistic:)

I know a few girls like Marine and Aqua have been having some mental issues lately, and it's all more of a "beginning of the end" feeling than anything else. I wish them the best and if that's truly the only way for them to be healthy I could understand, but it would be miserable.

Actually, I see Coco being the first of Gen 4 to retire/graduate. I think it is a ways off but I get certain vibes that make me think it is inevitable.

tl;dr: Matsuri early-to-mid 2021. Mel sometime 2021. Coco sometime 2022.

On a related note, was there panic the first time Niji had a major graduation? I know Hololive is the poster child of VTubing and it's much easier to follow them on the English side, but I'm curious if there was any kind of hysteria regarding that? I imagine the large number of talents softens the blow.

Don't forget Mio who went on break, Shion's roommate also seems to had a meltdown. Think Korone a couple of months ago posted on Twitter about feeling a lil directionless that got deleted quickly.

With great success comes great drawbacks too. It either eats into you mentally or you become so egotistical you become disliked.
I spent my day in the Kiryu fancord.. it's a fucking shit show there. You got your sane enough gachikois who are "let's enjoy it till the end" to your "idk what to do, lemme go slit my wrists" to people posting that Makajima fella's conjectures. It's either a hugbox, shit flinging or delirium in there. Glad that on the farms its as collected as it can be without us losing most of our heads.

Mio too tried to talk Coco out of it but accepted she's set to graduate. That makes it.. 5? 6? Holomembers who tried to talk Coco out of it.
Aquas break was for health (and a break from Apex is always good for the Baqua)
Also, Korone talks about how its been known amongst most of them (likely those based in JP as evident by Calli being not so surprised vs the rest of EN and ID)

I unironically think Coco can do so much more as Kson.
-No games restrictions or dumb managers to worry about.
-Still able to hang out with her holofriends offstream.
-Able to do both irl and avatar streams.
-Subscribers already near-Hololive levels even before her graduation (expecting it to go 600k+ after July 1st).
-Her income won't be as high as Hololive, but she's already a millionaire and can live comfortably doing whatever she wants.

Holomen have enough clout now that they can strike it solo and have enough spergs track them down and spread them around to recapture their original audience. They wouldn't make nearly as much money, have as high-quality models and rigs, or big concerts and merch, but they'd have the freedom to stream and make whatever the fuck they want, still produce music, and probably have a much more 'my pace' life.

If Coco shows that this is viable to the others, I think it may encourage others upset with Cover management to leave their hat on the desk too. For completely separate reasons mentioned previously in the thread, a Hololice fan 'in the know' here should be genuinely concerned about Shion's future in the company too.

I've mentioned this in the thread before, but Nijisanji is presented in a way where the company says 'Here is a huge variety of entertainers for you: Pick the ones you like!'. Most fans are isolated. There are groups, generations, ship bait, and in-jokes of course, but it was never promoted as a 'family' where they're all in it together as a singular unit.

Most people who watch Nijisanji kind of understand that the people behind them are also working towards their real dreams. They stream less frequently, and most Graduations are a result of the Liver being more committed to studies or finding other jobs they want to do.

As such, it's more or less impossible for any graduation there to have a comparable impact, as a person leaving Nijisanji doesn't break the fabric the entire illusion of the company is predicated on to keep the unicorns plugged in.

Hololive is so unbelievably popular that I think people have gotten too comfortable with the idea that every member has no reason to leave, and will therefore continue to stream for years to come. Hopefully today, people realise that Cover is just another Idol company.
