Just had a chat with a friend who is not into Vtubers at all. Helped me unpack Coco's graduation and the shock. I think that's what's missing for some of these gachikois. Being able to unpack it so they can be functioning.

Kinda also grateful for all you retards because we get to unpack it together, maybe call one another autistic, have a good laugh, and then commiserate (or not) those who sperg out. Cheers to you all.

I saw the title of a clip claiming she was announcing her graduation. I thought it was a joke and she's say she was graduating and then give an absurd reason that makes it clear she's trolling. No reason came and I watched completely stunned. Just watched the announcement video, this is definitely her decision and if it's what she feels she needs than I'll support that. I haven't been here that long, watching clips since maybe Sept and started subbing a couple months later. But I can tell how much Coco means to everyone, she is after all why we have HoloEn. My theory is that Coco and Cover had a lot of disagreements, and Cover did not treat her well. She realized they needed her more than she needed them.

Relevance being: If she does decide to start her own agency, and become a manager, then we may see a lot of talent jump ship. They know the fans will follow. If she just decides to do more IRL streams, or even even keep Vtubing with a different avatar, then Holo will stay the same more or less. No one wants to stop a lucrative career and lose friends unless you have a sound alternative.

I just remembered something. Back in December, Rushia accidentally leaked her Steam account. Her friends' list was/is public, and this served as the starting point for people to follow the trail and discover every Hololive member's account (even the ENs).

I am pointing this out now because Coco's account is still publicly visible, as is her friends list. I'm wondering what will happen to this account after July 1st - will she unfriend everyone? Will the account just go inactive? Will it be deleted completely? We'll have to wait and see.

Just for posterity, here is an archive of her account as of now, and an archive of her friends list.

And just in case the account's custom URL is changed, here's the SteamDB page for the account (Steam ID is 76561199009891856).

This will probably end up going nowhere interesting, but I think it's still worth documenting at least a little.

I don't watch these streams, just pay attention to the drama so I may be abit off.

About a year ago a different streamer (Akai Haato) from the same company accidentally mentioned Taiwan while discussing viewer analytics. This streamer (Kiryu Coco) that is on the chopping block to "graduate" or retire/quit is a different streamer who purposely discussed Taiwan in the very same way the next day to get the heat off that other streamer. It worked, but the Chinese nationalists Jihad was mostly redirected at her as a result. The company supported her, but many believe her company has been trying to constructively dismiss her to get back into the Chinese market.

Chinese nationalists Jihads are pretty extreme. John Cena recently mentioned Taiwan and his movie lost literal billions of dollars. He apologized after one was demanded, but they refused the apology. Even today Coco's streams are plagued by nationalistic Chinese who say slurs to get the stream taken down and the streams demand more moderators. This particular streamer is especially well respected for standing up for a fellow streamer and basically creating the English version of Hololive by normalizing regular interactions with western audiences.

I created an account just to call these guys a bunch of cocksuckers.

Just because she is the first to do so doesn't mean she is the only one nor the most egregious.

They'll pick Haachama instead if that actually what happened.

I also really doubt he'd be that much of an idiot - he isn't - since everyone knows Hololive due to the crazy viral shit. Not idol bullshit.

It's a tough spot to be in not just for the community but also Cover.
The Dragon just hit really different especially before the English Branch came along so this is going to be a tough pill for many to swallow.
It probably be best to roll out that second generation announcement before July 1st.
