Went back thru the archive, Korone sounds like Korone. So no clue what to expect for the Oct 1st announcement/stream other than the best. Unless one of you wanna go psycho analyze her voice

Damn its been like 3 weeks since i last posted here.

Never cared much about Coco but I do appreciate her contribution to how much Hololive has grown in the past year or so. When I saw her Bday Stream a day before the announcement it made me realize that she probably wants to branch out a bit more since Hololive is too restrictive. The fact that shes only getting collabs with EN because she's quitting seems like she is not too happy with how little freedom she has.

When she mentioned something along the lines she might come back or be around the first thing that popped to my mind was that she would debut as Hololive EN 2.

I could see a few others also quitting further along the line if they realize that post-graduation Coco is doing better. Marine and Korone come to mind.

I hope they do a performance of the Gen4 song all in their idol outfits. Would be a nice way to close that chapter.

I'm mostly a lurker here but thought I'd join in since this seems to be the only place where people are having any reasonable discussions on Coco's graduation. I've heard mention of Delutaya/Aloe tweeting something related to the situation here and there but haven't been able to find anything about what she actually tweeted anyone willing to fill me in?

It has been posted somewhere in this thread. Long story short: she ragetweeted about how companies are shit like that, but upon learning that Coco herself is rather cool about the whole thing, she deleted the tweets, end of story.

I think the girls recognize this now. I'm certain they're watching Kson's subscriber count double after Coco announced her graduation and realizing what a great safety net Coco has

I would not be surprised if some of them started alt accounts to imitate Coco's KSON character. The information about this will spread quickly and people will start flocking in. There is of course a risk of starting panic among fans, but hey, it's business and simp money.

Korone announced something for October 1st, her birthday. Special stream or something. Cool

If this is what Coco's graduation will do to you, then know someone else will eventually grad, especially your oshis, and if this is the dominoes falling

I don't think it will be as shocking. Most people should be aware that "ah yes, this is the thing that can happen" by now.

Also regarding Josh's reaction to the extreme activity of this thread yesterday (there were like 35 pages in approx. 24 hours, I think it was more than this infamous movie "Buck Breaking", advertised in "community happenings"): I was 100% sure he was joking way back in March and then he yeeted this thread into Spergatory, so you never know. But things are definitely calming down and will return to the usual activity eventually (or not, because EN2 is coming), and the explanations given to him should be more than enough.

Pastebin of transcript for liveTL from Coco's mengen. It's already floating around on 4chan so there's no point in hiding it now. If you want answers, this is the best you're going to get. Coco has nothing to share after this.
10:52:13 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Coco: I don't think I'll ever be affiliated to any other agencies.
10:52:24 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Coco: Even if I do, it'd be Hololive 500 years later.
10:52:38 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Coco: I might have become the god of the new world by then.
10:53:25 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Coco: I know there are ppl wondering if I might go somewhere else, but nope, no chance. I'm, uh, not a woman who would work under anyone else. Hah!
11:01:27 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Marshmallow: Is your future path tied to your own happiness? I can't help but see this as you offering your own head in exchange for everyone else's happiness.
11:02:14 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Marshmallow: However, even if I know the truth, I know it wouldn't change anything. I simply hope, as a single fan, that you would become happy.
11:02:35 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Coco: I am willing to do anything for you guys, but I'm not big-hearted enough to offer my own head for other people's sake.
11:03:00 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Coco: I'm not sure whether you're referring to the fans or who else with "everyone", but well.....
11:03:28 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Coco: I'm not big enough to do so for the other Holomems. *laughs* Of course, they're important. And so is mgmt. But.....
11:03:38 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Coco: I'm doing this to protect my own smile.
11:03:59 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Coco: And I don't want your smiles to disappear either. And this decision is a result of only that one thing.
11:48:46 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Marshmallow: I am the one who told you about the news that led to the problematic stream. I've been supporting you the whole time, but it was my fault that things ended up like this.
11:48:56 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Coco: Seriously, it's nobody's fault!
11:49:14 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Coco: And this might be the trigger that lets me go on to take over the entire universe! Stay positive!
11:49:51 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Coco: If this didn't happen, I might have become a complacent woman. Maybe this wake-up call will lead to me reaching even greater heights.

Coco might just go on to stream as kson with the same vibe and energy for the most part but I don't see any of the other JP girls being able to do the same.
People like pekora marine and korone come to mind in that they are able to maintain this energy and persona only by hiding behind the vtuber Avatar. I don't see them carrying the same intensity if they stream with a facecam. And I don't think any of us would be interested in watching them doing neck down streams either

She mentioned she went to university twice, which usually takes 4 years. More if it's a hard major or a Phd. If she had graduated high-school, did two different majors at uni AND had the time to be at hololive and Kson, and yet turn only 22 a couple of days ago, then we would be watching her at the news for future nobel prize candidate of the decade.

Still, gg Coco. I'm sure she caught some chumps who didn't know better who would now swear she's 22.

Thing is that she turned 22 just 2 days ago.

For a brief second there I'm imagining a world without Subaru's energetic streams

The gist of the stream was basically what most people have already said. Cover tried to keep her from graduating, but in the end they couldn't see eye to eye and she felt that with the rules in place that she would be limiting her creativity. It took a toll on her to the point where she was, for a lack of a better word, depressed. And in her words "The main reason why I can't stay with you guys is because I can't make myself smile anymore...". She also didn't want to fake a smile and lie to her fans.

I'd rather not share it, but I'd rather have this be out there than whatever spin some people will inevitably give it.
Yep I also got a membership just to see what was up and it's exactly as I ( and many) suspected it was due to creative differences.
Coco's pushing of the envelope has effectively clashed with Cover's new outlook since they've become mainstream in 2020 and that's stifled and killed a lot of her creativity.
Based on what she said, no one wanted her to leave but she felt that it was the right decision in her heart.
Giving my own personal take here I completely understand where she's coming from and I do worry that this extreme PC nature might cause a negative domino effect if the higher-ups don't learn anything from this

Cover probably needs to either tell jewtube and Susan to pissoff and let their talents have free reign over their creative process, hire a bunch of thinktank type people to figure out how far creatively can their talents go, or establish their own broadcast/streaming site.

All of which are highly optimistic and thus unlikely

I mean keep in mind, we're talking about a Japanese business here. They are a very, very conservative society who frowns upon change and people rocking the boat. It goes beyond YouTube's copyright/creative freedom policies I think. Just so happens that Coco's an American who's not afraid to take risks and do something different.

As for the other girls? Most don’t have such an option in the cards. Their alt accounts either require you to dig deep, consult a doxxing site with questionable verification in most cases, are literal who’s that struggled to gain views before they were picked up by Hololive, and/or are based in NND where most of the Youtube audience can’t figure out how to access. How are their donators expected to keep supporting them, set up a PayPal account? Only a handful have alts that are as widely known as Coco/Kson’s, and they each have little reason to return to them anytime soon; Noel for example can stream games as everybody’s favorite K-Cup knight and then follow up with ASMR streams featuring her literal K-cups without needing to drop either, Calli joining EN was one of the best things for her career in years, and etc. Only when they have absolutely no interest in streaming anymore will they finally decide to leave, because otherwise, unlike Kson, they would have to start back from square one.
that's not even close how it works, and comparing them to their pre-hololive activities where they were one in a sea of many before hololive put them on the map is asinine.
subaru could quit today, start a new channel tomorrow (maybe extra cheeky with a duck avatar) and people would figure out in a matter of days who it is and move over. even faster when hints gets dropped constantly and google's algorithm pushes any and all queries with "subaru new channel" to the top by combing through comments and the internet at large - that's what google does. how do you think people managed to find coco's other channel in the first place? they could even do it while preparing for their graduation depending on their contract or if they don't give a crap.

someone graduating doesn't suddenly delete people's knowledge and the talent's notoriety, nor does it make people stop being fans over night (unless they're really attached to the png), and doesn't mean they have to face stream from now on. claiming they have to start from "square one" is outright stupid.

God damn why YOU of all people? I knew this was gonna happen eventually but it hit just as hard, and I'm not even a big fan, I just admire her greatly. Now I don't even wanna think how real OG Tatsunoko are feeling, honestly poor motherfuckers.
Coco is a pillar of not just hololive but the whole industry. What a loss... It took me literally one and a half days to digest it.

In any case, I'm sure Coco will be fine whatever she chooses to do and maybe one day she'll give us closure on the whole thing.

But until then.. here's my personal rrat:
Four months have passed after Cocos graduation, things were getting back to normal but out of nowhere, Marine, Aki and Kanata announce their graduation by the end of the year. All of the fans are big sad but in the year end Sports Festival Fubuki cheerfully waves goodbye saying "see you on the other side".
1st of January 2022: Big announcement, a new JP Vtuber agency releases a promo video that shows their first generation of talent. It goes insanely viral, the reason: We hear 3 very familiar voices in their cheerful new avatars. Although.. none of them is Coco's.
On their debut all 3 "new" talent mention they are ready to embark on a crazy new adventure with their very helpful manager "Yuujin - K" who will make guest appearances from time to time.

End.
the problem with that rrat is that not everyone has the same issues as coco, so why would they graduate? there's a legit reason coco did, and hardly any of those affect the others. that's why any fears or predictions are iffy right now, the only graduations that happened so far were either shitshows due to external factors and mishandling or creative differences. marine/korone being burned out or aqua having trouble with their living situation and falling down the MUH RANK grind has nothing to do with cover and hololive, and can happen just the same as an indie or wherever they end up.

as much as we want them to stay or end up together that doesn't always happen, but otoh depending how much cover has a stick up their butt there's no reason a collab couldn't happen on special occasions, it's not like they don't collab with other companies or indies.

the other thing about coco starting her own company sounds funny enough as something to look forward to, but she's also an indie (or small fish company depending how it goes). if youtube didn't give a shit about a heavyweight like cover, all that new freedom means nothing if susan decides to shit on her, and given youtube's behavior so far they don't even need a reason, but now she doesn't even have the leverage like before.
being part of a corp is not entirely bad, and most (if not all) of them are probably very aware of that, so it depends on their situation, because at the end of they day the question is: what are their advantages going indie/joining coco besides money? and what are the drawbacks in return. and we'll also have to wait and see hot it works out for coco, she might be off great financially now, but money was never the problem to begin with.
either way, god speed kaichou.

Very happy to see creative differences was the main reason as suspected, it should hopefully calm fears of some pro-bug fliparoo on Cover's part (although who am I kidding, rrats are contagious and this is KF).

Such a reveal though does lend credence to idea that Haato could be one of the next ones. She's easily one of the more creative talents at the moment and has already been smacked for certain stunts - wouldn't be shocking if she decided in the near future that she's done as much as she can under the Hololive banner, especially with her studies competing for time. I don't personally expect it, but at least we have a better idea of what might drive certain decisions for some of the girls in the next 12-24 months.

Congrats on losing your biggest cash cow and number one talent. Free meme.

Edit: People, I know we are still all under copium a bit still, but let's not be uncritical with our thoughts. Real "creative differences" won't make say that'd you'd rather wait 500 years before returning to that place. Jesus, the nip companies are terrible. They put all these restriction with collabs and rules and shit, and then when the chinamen attack, they leave you to hang? Bravo. You get what you deserve. Enjoy the paycut.

11:44:07 Taishi Ch. 神代大使 [EN] Coco: The instant I had to think to myself, "Should I force myself to continue streaming?" I knew it wasn't right.

^ This pretty much sums it up.

Thank you for sharing this @Deluxe

Everyone who cares or is curious about Coco should read it. It pretty much answers all the questions we had and the reasons she's quitting.

Gave me great closure and now I feel a lot more relieved.

Coco is just an amazing person and we were lucky to have her. Much love to her.

The “square one” is admittedly hyperbolic, but I don’t trust the average everyday, goes-to-Reddit viewer to do enough digging or even pay attention to the obvious hints dropped by the algorithm. Even with Kson being the open secret it is, I’ve gone onto YouTube comment sections of clips relating to Coco’s graduation where many users still had to ask what people in the know was winking and nudging each other about. It could be another Senzawa where the rest of your fanbase eventually catches on, but it’ll be from a less advantageous position to do it.
