The Godzilla Thread - Plus other giant monsters, no matter how popular or obscure

I started watching Singular Point. It's entertaining but something of a slow burn. I've only managed to watch six episodes through... channels. I don't know if more will turn up, but I gather it speeds up?

1) We got the animated series which is of this statement, my favorite animated Godzilla (We shall see if Singular Point changes that). What the 98 film lacked, this show had in spades. It still had to work, for the most part, within the framework of the 98 film, but it definitely felt more in line with classic Godzilla, borrowing elements from the films and even the old Hanna Barbara series.

Old me wants to punch Randy Hernandez in the face until only bone and pink ooze is left, but otherwise that show was stellar.

4) I mean this one only happened because the 98 film sucked, but because it sucked, Toho felt compelled to make more Godzilla movies to make up for it, giving us a whole new string of films with the Millennium Series

Truth.

I'm sure some of my lesser favorite Godzilla films like Godzilla's Revenge and Godzilla Vs. Megalon created fans too, so who am I to fault that?

NGL, Godzilla vs. Gigan and Godzilla vs. Megalon were the films that set me on the path to giant-rubber-dinosaur-suit fanboying.

For all the 98 films faults, the monster design... it wasn't Godzilla, but it was a really nice design in itself.

The thing about Godzilla 1998, at least for me, is that if they had called it anything else...literally anything else. Reptilasaurus, Dino Invasion, Jurassic City....ANYTHING, and if they had, I would have accepted it as a cheesy disaster/creature flick that was common in the 90s, like Anaconda.

But, the fact that it was called Godzilla raised certain expectations from lifelong fans like me, and that was only going to be met with massive disappointment.
I think my favorite bit of trivia regarding the 98 Godzilla movie was that Toho hated that film's version of the character so much, they had him appear in Final Wars rendered with intentionally bad CGI just so the real Godzilla could kill him... And the man who designed the American Godzilla was actually happy his creation made it into an official Toho Godzilla movie, even though it was an insult.

Oh snap, the fact Shokaract had to put in a spoiler tag must mean something good. I'll see if I can convince my brother to watch it today (he's under the impression episodes come out on Thursdays--and they do, in Japan lol).

Ok these last three episodes better be full of Godzilla or I'm gonna be disappointed.

There 'e is! There's my big boi!

Use of an ominous choir chant for his theme during the atomic breath was so fucking awesome. Gimme this soundtrack right now.

Ok the ending of episode 12 was pretty sweet not sure how they're gonna wrap it all up in one 20 minute episode but we'll see. Also lol at controlling the oxygen des..I mean orthogonal diagoniser with a gameboy.

That Gameboy Advance micro as the controller cracked me up.

The full song is incredibly beautiful. Just gets more and more haunting as it goes on.

I also might've decided to spoil myself a little bit and purchased a figurine of a certain kaiju (no prizes for guessing who). I'm excited - it'll be here by tomorrow and according to the reviews and photos I found it looks legit!
Did you get the angery chicken cyborg boi, too?
