My biggest gripe with SWG was that playing it was always too obtrusive to be fun. Felt like a goddamn chore doing anything in that game.

I choose to be cynical and assume there's a part of it that incidentally comes from identity politics too. Not even a huge part of it but still a part of it.
You can make a twilek be practically any color, but if you make it blue or orange or whatever then you are erasing the identity of the brave POC playing them. Nobody sane thinks this way of course but then Disney have chosen to be sensitive and accountable to the unimaginative idiots who do think this way, and because of that they have to be over cautious in every way possible. You could hypothetically get some lunatic tweeting about a lack of representation or lack of sensitivity from any of a hundred different angles, and so because of a bunch of small and separate costume direction decisions you end up with a collective effect of makeup in drifting towards normal skin tones.

The reason why these Hollywood leftists are so desperate for representation is rather different from the reason why the plebian leftists are doing it. The latter are just brainwashed with critical theory and race-pimping shit from the colleges, they pretty much did that to themselves. But the Hollywood leftists like Kathleen Kennedy are so desperate for female representation or minority representation because in the end, Hollywood is still run by a bunch of old white men. Just look at Harvey Weinstein or Jeffrey Epstein, and the crowd they surrounded themselves with. These people see women and minorities in Hollywood as expendable buffoons whose lives they can uplift or ruin at a moment's notice, and the latter know that.
Hollywood is still being run by old white farts who pretend to stand up for women and minorities, who shit on conservatives and their fellow whites, but at the end of the day, they still ruled over the women and minority actors and producers like tyrants. Hollywood bigshots can hire and fire these affirmative-action hires at will, and they hate even more those women and minority actors who have genuine talent or a spine. That's why someone like KK would be so obsessed with female representation-because under Lucas, Spielberg, and those other Hollywood twats? She was just the person bringing in the coffee, nothing more. And that obviously infuriated her.
The reason why we're seeing these Hollywood snowflake leftists crash and burn like a tire fire promoting feminism, race-pimping, or other social justice things is because, at the end of the day, they're the bitch of some old white fart whom they probably had to suck up to, just to gain that post. Sometimes, they even had to fuck said old white guy to gain that post. And that fills them with so much hate that they take out on the conservatives, the Christians, the Trump fans, or the fans of old media. They call these people racist, sexist, homophobic, but they so badly would want to call their own bosses that. Of course, they can't do that, because the moment they do, they'll get blacklisted from Hollywood and the media, and they'll be back on the street begging or spreading their legs for money.
It's a tragic tale, really, but I suppose it explains why these people look so exasperated despite living it big and having so much control over franchises like Star Wars. For us, we see all the power they wield, and all the influence they have, and ask, why are they acting like such idiots and ruining the franchises they have control of, when pleasing the fans can get them all the love in the world as well as more money? Looking at the lives of these leftist snowflakes in the media business, the answer becomes obvious.

Now that you mention it, the "aliens" featured in the Disney trilogy had skin tones that matched those of their actors...
(Derla Piddles lmao and yes that's an "alien" in the background of the third pic that gets around by inflating its prolapse and propels itself with farts because they thought it would be funny...)
So you're definitely onto something there... Maybe they got rid of the old alien skin tones to make sure their diverse character actors weren't unrepresented...
The only exception to this rule were like 2 costumes from deleted scenes, the ones that were puppets, animatronics or played by midgets, but even some of the animatronics had flesh colored bodies...
But I wonder why the midgets were the only ones who got costumes that were consistently colorful like green, red, blue and yellow?

As some of you might recall, two of its biggest jannies were banned a little while ago due to "transphobia" and "sexism" because they "deadnamed" a former Lucasfilm employee by featuring his "pre-transition" name on his page and this angered the individual who was angry at them for mentioning his real life history and birth name, despite that its the same case with every other real world figure recorded on Wookieepedo who's had a name change, as they all have their former name listed on their page, and the "sexism" was due to the highly hated but harmlessly goofy "breasts" article which was made for shits and giggles but offended many on FANDOM for being "sexist", "juvenile" and "discriminatory", and the page has since then been censored to Hell and back. After the ban of the two top jannies, Wookieepedo started a massive overhaul to remove "tedious and problematic articles" and make others more politically correct little by little, starting with the new LGBTQIA project they got going on. So yeah, I'm expecting this to be a trashfire that people might turn a blind eye to thanks to empty nostalgia. We also learn that this movie may be stupider than anticipated and may feature CGI Ford in abundance...
