Dream is a businessman, not a personality. If he'd simply kept in the shadows he could have been a billionaire, and a far less despised one at that, by now. Love him or hate him you have to admit the steps he took to gain relevance were genius.

>Gaming the algorithm with the Pewdiepie stuff -> Finding a way to make speedruns actually entertaining with the idea of Manhunts -> Taking what fangirls loved about SMP Live and giving them that but with people who were willing to give them their reality TV show

It was genius. And barely anyone would hate it if the figurehead of the community was anybody except him. But unfortunately, his narcissism got in the way. If he had simply taken a step back, realized he wasn't particularly funny, and then instead instructed George or whoever on what videos to make and when, he'd be doing great and have a significantly better community- since (at least until recently) every other MCYT person has shown they're capable of setting motherfucking boundaries.
That's pretty much what he's started doing. He's basically turning himself into a sidekick for his friends' channels, while posting maybe one video every couple months on his main channel. Even with his SMP, he's more or less been demoted to cameo appearances for other people's streams.

If he wants to keep the gravy train going, he could bring back that "Unsolved Mysteries" series he did back in 2019, and use it to start transitioning away from Minecraft while still doing a monthly manhunt video. Once Minecraft starts losing popularity on YT/Twitch again, he can start focusing more on non-MC related documentary videos, or even take the Mutahar route and become a commentary channel.

I'm waiting for somebody to reenact Stephen King's Misery with one of these streamers.
I feel like there's definitely been attempts. Didn't some dude break into Meg Turney's house a few years back and try to kidnap her/kill her boyfriend?

Its true that the way to be truly big on twitch is that you have to be bigger than the content you play/put out. People have to tune in to want to watch you instead of watching the game you play. But for someone like Dream, he backs down like a pussy whenever someone calls him out for the most minor thing.

Big streamers who are bigger than their content are usually very loud, edgy and cringe. They dont give a fuck to what other people says. See xqc and tyler1. Are there even any tame big streamers out there?

I personally disagree with the businessman notion. It doesn't take a businessman to know what people or your fans want.
Dream has been basing his entire career and Twitter statements off of appeasing his fans.
Think about it this way: What kind of rational person would play into the notion of a gay relationship with your friend, and passively allow gay fan art to be drawn of the two of you? I'm sorry but I would personally be appalled and would not play into that in my roleplaying videos. That's way too far for me.
Dream at one point with the "war call" controversy (his first ever) had a very "appropriate" response to him making a war call that was not offensive in any form.

What does he do later that night? He slinks back and apologizes to his audience.
Now, after every seemingly trivial "controversy" he goes through, it's always him retracting and apologizing. Hell, most of the time his fans don't even appreciate him when he apologizes!

Did he do a great job of playing into the YT algorithm when starting out? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe there are any other YTers out there who have seen massive growth in a matter of months to this size. However, Dreams clear inability to handle this fame goes to show that even he wasn't prepared for this.
However, he's no businessman and no genius. He created likely one of the worst fanbases the social mediasphere has ever seen, alongside kpop and modern weebism. He is cucked by his own audience and he can only appease to them to keep his career afloat. In some ways he enabled his fans, and in other forms they've become out of control. No genius or businessman would have their head on the chopping block on a daily basis.

Honestly if he was smart he should just put his earnings into Index funds so when his career takes a dump, he'll have made passive income and hopefully retire with his sum. If he did that, maybe then I'd consider him a businessman.

It's sometimes fun (and sometimes frustrating) to debate whether or not Dream was smart and calculated in his moves, or he was just lucky with the formulas that he unearthed. So far, I think anyone who dives deep into this thread will lean more on the latter conclusion as we really see Dream so woefully unprepared to handle the fanbase he spawned.

I mean, he can do it. He can stand his ground, be firm, and take shit thrown at him. But he keeps backing down after a few hours which just invalidates any thought people might have of his integrity. Is he afraid of losing the teenage girls that thirst over him? Is he this much of a pushover? Does he have a gun to his head that is tied with his Twitter follower count? It's honestly so ridiculous and hilarious to see him trip over his feet over and over and be so indecisive and confused.

I guess it just shows how much hubris this young man has. It's like the story of Icarus, after all. Clayton flew too close to the sun, and while his wings haven't fallen off yet, he's feeling the heat of rising too far too fast and one wrong move and everything could be over.

But all dream knows how to do is eat, play Minecraft, and apologize for the tamest shit. I doubt he has the intelligence to recognize other ways of making passive income or income in general if all he's done for his most recent life is just let his fans suck his dick for every tweet, video, and drama he has been, increasing his income due to the amount of attention the 14-year-old stans give him.

Dream is hopeless without his fanbase. He needs them.

I think he absolutely knows how to play the Youtube game. On some level it's luck, as we all have a few channels who we subbed to with maybe a few thousand subscribers and a couple months later they're sitting at 50k+. Getting on the recommended feed is the surefire way to boost any career and I've seen many small and midsized Youtubers discuss how they essentially won the lottery with the recommended.
I think Dream absolutely knew how to utilize the Youtube formula. Minecraft is undoubtedly the most surefire way to gain popularity on a channel, based on its relatively clean gameplay and its proved timelessness. Also in his old clips he used names like Pewdiepie and utilized clickbait titles.
However, I think without a doubt he never anticipated this much growth in the span of just 1 year. 23 million subscribers in the span of 1 year is absolutely unheard of. To add, Dream had the misfortune of gaining the fanbase that is among the worst fanbases of the internet.
The discussion now is how to handle the horrible fanbase that Dream had the misfortune of inheriting. He could have either;
1) Deflect the shit out of them, maybe be a little more edgy, and bat these people away. Then, the people who are rational and actually enjoy his content and not the drama side of things can continue to enjoy him for who he is
2) Pander to their abusive nature, keep 100% of his fanbase, and have your career on ice as well as sacrificing your dignity

Sucks because Dream chose the latter. Dream has proven to be someone who desperately wants to be liked by everyone with a narcissistic twist to his personality. If he could be like any normal person and just say to himself; "I have a huge fanbase and amount of subscribers. Obviously there are people who are going to hate on me and tough shit for them. The people who truly enjoy my content will stick around." But nah, instead he chooses to walk on hot coal and try to appease to everyone, even though these people will chomp at the bit at any moment to fuck things up for him.
The two options I gave earlier in this post are now done with. Dream has solidified his career in this wretched fanbase and now he is forced to pay the price on a daily basis by having his dignity sacrificed and his career on thin ice.

What can Dream do to redeem himself?
Well, for starters, not be a fat fuck. He now has the money to have an excellent work out routine, and keep at it. If he can dedicate himself to autistic cube game, he can dedicate himself to autistic lifting. Some nice /fit/fags might be able to even give advice on how to get a twink body within 5 years.

2nd, apologize to his fans for cat fishing them and breaking a value he loves to preach and rarely follows- honesty.

3rd, get off the internet, and go to a therapist and talk to his friends and family. To learn from them and to get back in touch not only with reality but himself. And if he doesn’t like himself? He can talk to a therapist honestly about those flaws and what he has to do.

4th, get normal pills. But, if it doesn’t work, try to find the drugs right for you. Talk to the, and get tested for family issues and potential genetic aversions. If ADHD is so problematic for him, he could use all of this to better himself, and heck, even enjoy his stupid game of blocks by having a more hyperfixated experience while speedrunning.

Money isn’t a limit anymore, now it’s all on him to self improve. This is all very 🌈 however.

Critikal released a video talking about how Tommyinit now has to go to therapy because of the bullying by twitter stans after he made a joke about Jschlatt. I wonder how Dream will respond to this, he'll probably say that sending hate is bad but do nothing to push the stans away since he loves them all.

I think he should get MATI. Genuinely chimp the fuck out. That’s supposedly one of his best friends. This could be his “FUCKING NORMALFAGS. GET THE FUCK OFF MY BOARD!!”moment. Maybe finally, seeing as this literal child is being mentally crumbled little by little, he’ll set the record straight, and do some good by telling his fans, “Fuck off.”

But this is Clayton “FatboySlim” Huff. The only thing he knows how to do is roll out of bed, roll into a chair, and roll over for his fan base of banshees.

"Screaming while flicking your tounge"

It seems like all his views of other races are literally lifted off memes and cartoons from the Tugboat Willy days of Disney. How does this retard continue to say this stupid shit? Is he this sheltered, retarded, or is this purposeful to see if he can apologize his way out of anything? At some point I have to assume there is a possibility that he could be doing these slipups on purpose.

Dream won’t respond, first because he is too scared of the Stan mob, and because he his not that close with Tommy. Usually, Wilbur would have been the one to say something but he was clearly an asshole when Tommy tried to talk to him about this issue.
