That's pretty much what he's started doing. He's basically turning himself into a sidekick for his friends' channels, while posting maybe one video every couple months on his main channel. Even with his SMP, he's more or less been demoted to cameo appearances for other people's streams.Dream is a businessman, not a personality. If he'd simply kept in the shadows he could have been a billionaire, and a far less despised one at that, by now. Love him or hate him you have to admit the steps he took to gain relevance were genius.
>Gaming the algorithm with the Pewdiepie stuff -> Finding a way to make speedruns actually entertaining with the idea of Manhunts -> Taking what fangirls loved about SMP Live and giving them that but with people who were willing to give them their reality TV show
It was genius. And barely anyone would hate it if the figurehead of the community was anybody except him. But unfortunately, his narcissism got in the way. If he had simply taken a step back, realized he wasn't particularly funny, and then instead instructed George or whoever on what videos to make and when, he'd be doing great and have a significantly better community- since (at least until recently) every other MCYT person has shown they're capable of setting motherfucking boundaries.
If he wants to keep the gravy train going, he could bring back that "Unsolved Mysteries" series he did back in 2019, and use it to start transitioning away from Minecraft while still doing a monthly manhunt video. Once Minecraft starts losing popularity on YT/Twitch again, he can start focusing more on non-MC related documentary videos, or even take the Mutahar route and become a commentary channel.
I feel like there's definitely been attempts. Didn't some dude break into Meg Turney's house a few years back and try to kidnap her/kill her boyfriend?I'm waiting for somebody to reenact Stephen King's Misery with one of these streamers.
