A little off the mark with your comparison, but the robots really do look generic. Everything about Dread looks cheap, its not at all what I was expecting after all this time. I mean even if it did have to be 2.5D you couldn't at least try to make the art direction look more Metroid?
"Amigo, you know what would be a good game to draw inspiration from?" Metroid? "Nah pendejo, Shadow Complex but we desaturate it to give it that dusty 2010 look!"
Sega = arcade company = was dogshit when games started moving away from arcade style
$50 for an arcade title in 1999 didn't make much sense. Sega getting out of the console business wasn't that strange, they were already publishing their games on PC so getting out of the console business meant that they could now put games like Sonic on the their former competitors systems, systems that had a way larger install base than Sega had. Expanding into general publishing made sense as well.
Something nobody ever talks about is that Genesis sales in the USA seemed to largely be because they pushed the hell out of sports games, unlike Nintendo. Mortal Kombat having blood helped, too. I would have wanted a Genesis as a kid if I knew about Phantasy Star and Shining Force, but they just didn't ever advertise those.

How long was it between Duke Nukem Forever's announcement and the jokes about it becoming vaporware? It was announced in '97, and I feel like I started seeing jokes about it maybe around '03. And that's just six years.
The question about Duke have already been answered but there's another game that was revealed/announced in the same issue of PC Gamer as DNF. Daikatana. That game was later considered to be in development hell and it was ultimately finished by a skeleton crew iirc. It was released in May 2000. Compare that to System Shock 2 - development started in 97, released in 98, a dev cycle like that wasn't unusual at the time.

You'd think if it was making that much money though they'd be quicker in trying to get a GTAVI out to make even more money, they really don't think milking GTA Online for 8 fucking years is going to dilute the franchise in the long run?
You have such a wierd way of thinking. If you were ceo of Rocksteady what would you do? Either have a guaranteed 600 million coming in with basically no expenses but a skeleton crew and server upkeep. OR risk billions of dollars in to an investment when you dont know how the public is gonna react? Even if gta 6 is a smash hit it guarantees the death of the online cash cow that is 5.

I still don't even understand who the hell is buying shit in GTA Online anymore.

Every vehicle I saw from the last update looked like garbage. I feel like they must have made a deal with the devil or something. I thought I was a GTA Online "regular" but I never bought a single microtransaction, and by 2017 everything that came out was so boring or unappealing I just stopped playing cause I had like 50 million and wasn't spending it on anything.

Holy shit calm down guys the Sega comment was a joke cause I couldn't say they still make arcade games on consoles.

The big 3 still stand though. They make games based on their philosophy so thats what you should expect.

>What do you want to see from Capcom?
>doesn't send out a survey asking customers

Did you even try?
We have spent probably the past 7-10 years listening to women reeeee about the sexualization of video games only for them to be put on panels to sexualize the fuck out of games in the most cringe way possible. We have reached full circle.

I don't know man, I was just saying on it's face it's weird that a series that was once as big as GTA would remain without an all new entry for so long. even if the reason why does make sense.

But just simply saying "there's hasn't been a new GTA for 8 years and counting" sounds weird.

>What do you want to see from Capcom?
Haunting Ground 2, bitches!

Or Maximo 3.

I am just going to finish the games in my backlog, sell them, and be done with gaming as a hobby. its getting way too gay for me now.
You're being overly dramatic. E3 was never representative of the future of video games, just the ones they felt like presenting.

I got bad news for some of you guys.

Nintendo is a toy company. Shit is gonna look like toys.
if generic looking 2.5 platformers would sell because they look like toys, each of those indieshit games would be a multi-million success.
which ironically was comcept's plan for mighty number 9, and we all know how that went...

I am just going to play the one or two games that come out that I like while gaming gets woke and broke. Its going to be entertaining to watch a new video game crash that billions will be spend making games for a demographic that won't buy it.
