It's the big thing in Germany, though.
Constant medial panic over rising cases of Delta variant (note: rising fraction of Delta cases, not a rise in total number of positive tests), how much more deadly it is for children, and so on. And since the Delta variant has the same symptoms as basic sniffles, it's the perfect thing for parents to be scared about when their kid after months of isolation eats dirt again and gets a bit sniffly.
They are already planning for closing down schools in autumn again, and everything else as well. Since there'll be a significant amount of adults vaccinated by then, they have to focus on the children to bring the fear. Adults might accept a booster shot, but tell them now that the vaccinations are pointless and they'll be pissed. It'd break the last shreds of trust in the government. So it's children, because they can't be vaccinated yet, to keep the fear alive until autumn when the usual seasonal rise comes among adults as well.
I doubt we'll ever go back to real normal again, at least not here in Germany. Some things will probably be gone for good, or at least for several years to come. Like greeting your friends with a friendly hug.
