Actually reading the study revealed that it was based on four participants. All four were hispanic men between the ages of 65-71, who were already dealing with dick related problems, and two of them happened to have had Covid. Half of Reddit has just become "bEliEVE tHE sCIeNCe yOu aNtivAxXeR!" even though 98% of the users sharing these articles on r/Politics and r/atheism are probably extremely skinny or obese neckbeards who wear superhero shirts in public, have a polyamorous relationship with their girlfriend or boyfriend, drink soymilk and eat tofu every day, and get scared of masculine and beefy guys in public and go on Twitter and Tumblr writing fanfics about how they were "harassed" by them.

The scary part is that it's not just the average joe with that level of scientific illiteracy: pretty much every news broadcast or daytime "health" tv broadcast will grossly misstate and fail to fact check the findings of a study. There was a thing a few years back where every news outlet reported on chocolate as a weight loss food, only for the author of the study to reveal it as a hoax. He basically made the study as shit as possible, interpreted the data in a way to support the conclusion, and it still managed to get published by a """""peer-reviewed""""" """""scientific""""" journal.

Pop science is a fucking joke. Don't listen to any headlines about new studies, go read the abstract and conclusion. Often the author of the study itself will tell you not to assume it means anything yet.

Eh, I wouldn't view that video as the police clamping down on Americans. It was ruled an unlawful assembly because of panicky school administrators and the guy who got arrested will probably be released as it wouldn't be worth the paperwork. This shit happens whenever you have a crowd of loud, angry people in a closed space. It is disappointing, but it is not worth doom-posting about.

The point is that you have a group that is passionate about a certain issue consistently showing up to stop a certain policy. I believe that is a certain democratic tool in the US that has been effective in improving local societies. Might want to have that tool handy for you neighborhood.
