What Twitter thinks KiwiFarms is
- An alt-right message board
- An organized terrorist group
- A neo-nazi safe space
- A website dedicated to killing LGBT people (no joke)
- Has a higher body count than mass shooters

Also apparently "joking about suicide can get your website shut down" if that's the case the entire internet should stop existing.
The worst part is that they probably don't even believe these things since they fail to meet the criteria for believing it, because truly believing something requires actually learning, understanding, and maybe even forming a thought once in a while. Instead they just parrot every insane lie that feels good to say and hear. Thinking is dangerous because it could lead you to oppose the narrative, just pick the right side and virtue signal with the crowd.

The point is that he gave Null an option that he said would prevent him from killing himself and Null chose not to take that option.
That is the key thing here. Not the culpability of Kiwifarms as a whole. The culpability of a specific someone who could have possibly stopped it. Every other angle that is being discussed, whether here or in Twitter Tranny Land, is background noise. Only the exchange between Null and Near and whatever the result of that was matters.
Do you get how bad of a precedent this is? Literally anything written on Kiwifarms and the internet at large could potentially trigger a mentally unhealthy person into doing a horrible thing. Any message of transphobia, homophobia, racism, and fatshaming could be "triggering."

What this guy did to Null was essentially terrorism as defined by FEMA. And yes threatening suicide unless your demands are placated is terrorism. If Near is alive he should be in a Looney Bin, not treated as this poor victim.

A couple of thoughts I've had while reading this thread:

According to the OP in the original thread, we know that people have donated rare SNES cartridges to him over the years. (In fact, he received media attention when he mailed cartridges in shitty packaging causing USPS to initially lose his box.) We also know he's been accused of "dump hoarding" -- where he posted the hashes of the ROM files but not the ROM files themselves.

What's the most valuable thing he owns? It's not the Japanese apartment. It's not the bank balance. And it certainly isn't a few bottles of HRT and a nylon rope. It's that cartridge hoard. A cartridge hoard consisting of rare games that people donated to him with the request that they be preserved for posterity. Now, what if he didn't feel like doing that anymore and wanted to sell these cartridges to private collectors? If word got out that he was doing that, then the backlash would be immense. And with a dwindling Patreon he would certainly have a financial incentive to sell. (Interestingly, he never sent his CV to Null when he asked for it -- which would have detailed his work history and give us a good idea of what his net worth truly is.)

However, what if the world thought he was dead and the KF thread was removed? Without the KF thread on search results, the existence of the cartridge hoard is no longer front and center. And with Byuu presumed deceased -- then perhaps no one will think twice once an undumped "Pachinko Fan Shouri Sengen" copy hits the auction sites.

There's two other things concerning his suicide note that I found odd:

1) Why didn't our game preservationist appoint some kind of successor? I'd be more inclined to believe he went through with it if Becky Gerber receives a poorly-wrapped box containing his cartridges -- assuming USPS doesn't lose it of course.

2) Byuu's excuse for not posting the ROM files was that he would be sued or arrested for infringement. It's kind of hard to sue dead people. Why not throw a torrent out as one last thank you to his fans?

The whole thing is very odd. It will be interesting to hear what Byuu has to say when he's ultimately discovered.
This is the most interesting perspective that I've seen in this entire thread

Based on what I know so far I'm 60-40 on Byuu is alive VS not alive right now.

On the other hand, if he really killed himself, the local goodwill (or japanese equivalent, if he brought his collection with him) is about to be a snes goldmine.
I think the items will be left to the friends or family, usually next to kin. If I remember correctly, Japan has a private-run service to clean and throw away items belonging to "abandoned death"

Watch out bros, the zoophiles are coming to destroy us.

There's a pretty high chance that the next of kin isn't a huge nintendo fan and won't understand the perceived value of some of those games.

I honestly don't care. Remember this guy?

According to this logic, you should be instantly forgiven all your crimes the instant you threaten to commit suicide. Dwyer publicly committed suicide after being convicted of corruption.

He was not forgiven. And byuu shouldn't be either.

Sorry, the real world doesn't work that way. If existence is too rough for you, just fucking end it, don't expect any sympathy because you try to extort it with threats. If he killed himself, well, he got what he wanted. If he didn't, the outcome will be hilarious.

70-30 for me he's still alive, since now we got the motive
What people raise about the suspiciousness of the docs convinced me this is just one big hoax created to force null to delete the thread
If he can't delete the thread, he'll try to bring down the Farm instead. Doesn't make sense, of course, but a desperate person would think it's logical
