Byuu could come out tomorrow and say this was all just an attempt to take down KF and all the frothing at the mouth raging Twitter folk would just go "Yeah that's ok totally understandable" then go on with their day without any introspection to how easily they're manipulated and what jackasses they made out of themselves over a "dude trust me" story with a lot of contrary evidence

For me the main issue is not these twitter deviants pathologic lack of introspection, is the fact that several media outlets published articles about a death based on a pastebin-like doc written by some anonymous dude.

It even appeared on the front page of Hacker News and multiple news aggregators.

This case has really opened my eyes about the insane lack of supervision journos can get away with.

Please, Hama-chan is based.

The pic in itself doesnt even prove those medications are his unless he showed a label that blurred out last name and address. Those could be anybody's.

At the very least the low-hanging GIS fruit is eliminated, the only instance Google knows about is in the thread.

So faking that requires a man in Japan if he isn't himself.

I wonder if the Twitter troons realize yet that we've reached the point that we're laughing less at Byuu's pathetic suicide extortion play and more at the endless amount of seething coming from them.

Regular reminder that you will never be a woman.

It's endless, absolutely endless, shit like this on Twitter.

Case and point!
I mentioned earlier but if this "friend" is in Japan and Near told them he was suicidal, had taken an overdose, suddenly went quiet and they didn't send police/ambulance there, then I think they're actually guilty of 保護責任者遺棄 (abandoning someone when you had guardian responsibilities).
Regardless, if someone you know is saying stuff like that and you didn't know their address, you keep them talking and BLOW UP THE PHONE of everyone you know. If this scenario was true then there's obviously some people who do know, because they were able to get confirmation of death from police. You absolutely could have spammed the programmer sock discord or whatever. What you don't do is sit there listening to music for half an hour and then immediately type up an anonymous Google Doc and send it to a random guy on Twitter (at a speed that indicates it was being written while they listened to the call?).

Near's emulator was a direct emulation of the hardware. It's like how he was porting games from SNES cartridges that had already been ported, because he wanted an exact copy of what they were like in the PAL release with no tweaks. It all ties into his obsession with that Bahamut Lagoon game - he only started learning programming, Japanese and making an emulator so he could create the perfect localisation of a game he first saw when he was like 13 and couldn't understand because it was exclusively in Japanese.
Ironically, Bahamut Lagoon already had one fan localization years before his one was released. His localization also outright refuses to work on ZSNES Emulator while the other one works.
Everything Near strived to do in his life was already done by someone else before him, just not in his obsessive-compulsive way.

Mr. Kenny is the operator of KFs Southeast Asia and Oceania branch, if you didn't know.

Am I in the screenshots? I'd check twitter but I have a life and common sense.

If he actually is dead, all my feelings will be directed towards the friend who sat listening to him die for over half an hour and did nothing.

A tiny dead thread caused this person to die, and NOT the “friend” who sat listening to the suicide prep, execution and aftermath for over 40 minutes without trying to intervene in any way?

Sure Jan.

This. Something is terribly, frightfully wrong with whoever Near was around in their final days if this is how they reacted when their life was literally on the line and lost. It's not wrong to want to fight to protect your friends, or their memories. I'm never going to say that it's wrong. But this seems to be misplaced (barring any new information coming out), isn't even having its intended effect, and definitely isn't making anything better.

What a fucking clown show, a few hours DDOS is the best they could manage for a (supposedly) dead comrade? I really shouldn't be surprised the "media" would cover an unverified suicide this way. I feel like you could write "I killed myself because of kiwifarms" - tranny name" On a post-it note, leave it outside Kotaku and get the same response.
