So this talk about the state of the word nigger in the FGC got me curious, so I started looking through some of the bigger fighting game related discords and I found some interesting bits.

I present to you, a quick look at the state of the slur 2021:

Part of this was spurred on by the Strive resources server having a banlist of naughty words with all the usual, and some less usual, suspects on it. This includes the word nigga.

Through this I ended up finding the exchange for why nigga was banned, and well, lol

For other servers, it's 50/50. Either an outright ban or numbers like the above depending on the number of users.
That said, they don't want anyone who isn't melanin enriched saying it, no clue if this is enforced or how.

The main melty blood discord DID clean up hard R nigger, I'm assuming most of the other discords at some point followed suit. For nigga, however, smaller servers tend to not give a fuck while on some of the larger ones it stays grandfathered in as a fact of life. Sadly, the grandfathering isn't bulletproof, as at least some larger servers are even pushing back on that. The last utterance of nigga on the GBVS server was 12/04/2021, and was flowing freely to around 2000 uses until that moment for a year old game by that point. Nigger on the other hand, seems to be all but banned on any semi public server.

People want to say it, and due to a simple law of demand I'm assuming at some point in the decade sites and services are going to attempt make digital slur passes, assuming they don't already exist in the algorithms on sites like twitter.

Just think, the N word hysteria started from a salty match between a chronic rage quitter and a tranny. The FGC cannot help themselves; I'm amazed.
