I can never get my head around people subsidising those that, maybe, have more disposable cash than those who are genuinely struggling to put food on the table. People give cash to other people to entertain themselves. This is not incompatible with good intentions. But charity is a form of entertainment, to the extent that you enjoy it. Some folks really enjoy the sensation of being seen as a good person; others may relish the sublimated dominance display in giving away what you don't need to someone who desperately needs it; many give, hoping to get rid of guilt they feel for doing well; a few weirdos may genuinely want to do good.

When you give to Lucas, it is not a donation. It's more a microtransaction, spending extra for content. There is little distance between spending money on a hat to wear in your favorite game, and buying Lucas chicken in the hope of some amusement.

People do ridiculous things with their money every day. Our way of life depends on it. If someone wants to waste money on Lucas, it does not bother me, because I am accustomed to scratching my head at the things we do with money.

What I'm irritated about is that they took his nasty rotten shoes and threw them over a sign that causes more work for the city workers who can't keep up cleaning up all the homeless trash. I've spent mornings on the weekends with the river keepers helping to clean up the homeless and tweaker trash, and there is a ton, so it's frustrating to see someone video themselves adding more work.

Sadly, since I don't live in that part of the country, I'll have to keep myself warm with the memory of having a bag of frozen catfish delivered to his Motel 6 room after he got back from LA.

If whatever outcastowls is doing ends with Lucas having as big of a meltdown as he had in the final Golden USB podcast or better, I'll definitely have a great time watching it whenever I need a pick me up.

As an aside, I just remembered that, in the instructions for the catfish delivery I made sure to tell them NOT to knock on the door or leave a receipt, because it was a surprise for a "good friend who LOVES catfish". What Lucas didn't show (but that you can sort of see on the floor next to the bag) was that the grocery store also had these dishtowels that had pictures of...cat fish, as in a cat mermaid thing. Cat head, fish body. I kinda feel like that joke went right over Lucas' head as he zeroed in on the frozen catfish.

He has said several times that at least one of his feet has no feeling in it. Iirc, he blames it on getting frostbite on his already diabetic foot during the time (years ago) that he supposedly chose to sleep outside in the winter because he was protesting against the Salvation Army’s stance on same sex marriage, and this is what led to him having a “foot that still has no feeling in it today”.

It seems that in the absence of regular social media, Lucas's IRL behavior is escalating.

Power level: I have a 72 year old aunt who has had type 2 diabetes for years. She cannot feel her feet at all, and she's now in assisted living because she's had parts of them amputated.

Why?

Because she usually walked around barefoot or in soft slippers as she was too damn fat to bend over and put shoes on. She'd get small cuts that she didn't notice that turned into oozing black wounds that she still couldn't feel (and couldn't see because she's fat as fuck, she makes Lucas look svelte) then end up in the ER when infections would either go systemic or when someone around her would notice and make her go in. She also insisted her doctors were/are "fatphobic" and that she doesn't really have diabetes, they were just trying to shame her into losing weight. Personally, I think it was more her 3 gallon a day of "I add sugar to already Sweet Tea Arizona and my diet consists of bins and bins of grocery store cookies" habit than it was alleged fatphobia but my brain works.

More than once I remember her stepping on a nail and not feeling it, and it was someone else who pointed out the bitch had a whole ass goddamned nail in her foot and was still walking around like nothing had happened.

Lucas has said he has almost no feeling in at least one foot and I'd bet it's in the one he drags like it's a dead stump when he walks.

It's also unlikely to stay confined to one foot, eventually he'll go from neuropathy to numbness in the other one too, because he's not bothering to treat his diabetes anymore.

The main difference now is my aunt got thrown in an assisted living facility because it was determined she was unable to safely live alone after her husband died, so now she's forced to watch her diet as she only gets to eat what the nutritionist provides, and she's forced to check her blood sugar and take insulin and if she won't, a nurse will do it for her whether she likes it or not.

Lucas is just going to end up grinding his feet to black stumps or, more likely, something will eventually get infected, go systemic, and kill him.

We've had one instance where we got a decent sized leg that has reached the putrefaction stage.
