This "maintainer" is somebody who has never touched C and is a huge drama queen. He started treating this as a vehicle to get some sweet internet sympathy points and made a lot of shit up to whip up an internet army in his defense.

The way this guy handled a little attention indicates he's worthy of his own thread if his antics continue.

What's up with usage statistics anyway?
Has this ever had any practical use at all and improved anything?
Apparently it's common practice for cellphone manufacturers to use telemetrics from their older models to determine what their customers want.

For example, if they find out that the buyers spend a lot of time without charging, the engineers will make a push to outfit the phone with a big battery - and in this case if, for example, the camera telemetrics show that the selfie camera isn't used a lot, the bigger battery money will come from front camera cost cutting.

Cookiengineer claimed someone has attempted murder on him on private property, what a guy

You can also simply to stop the trolling facade now.

1. It was attempted murder with an illegal butterfly knife. In the whole state of Germany, butterfly knifes are considered an illegal weapon. Check the law before trolling again.

2. There were three witnesses in place that saw the incident. I was slit in the arm. On private property, that you have to physically break into in order to enter.

Why is he talking about weapon laws in Germany when he lists himself as a resident of California? How utterly retarded do you have to be to think anyone would believe that someone would attempt to murder you over a fork of an open source project? How much dumber to actually believe it? Butterfly knives are subpar as weapons and their popularity has passed, which further cements this creature as a clueless attention seeker.

Still doesn't excuse spamming telemetry for an open source audio tool. It's always marketed as 'anonymous diagnostics', but it's really data collection for selling.

I swear since the Certain Emudev Autism Drama, I've seen more developers (at least ones that aren't terminally online) getting into hysterics over being harassed by trolls.
I don't know CookieEngineers history but I assume that's the cause of this or at least partially.
At least the claims about phone calls almost sounded believable, but in the span of 2 days you already have people at your house? Fuck off.
Sneedaucity probably won't last long either considering the usual end result of /g/ projects (i.e Tox) but Jesus what a journey :story:

Hahah what the fuck? I’m going to need to hear an actual description of the events from someone who isn’t a Twitter tranny to determine what’s actually going on here.
Well, what happened was after audacity started implementing their tracking was this webdev with no C experience wanted to make a fork of audacity. For naming, he held a vote of a few names that were suggested. One of the names for the final vote was Sneedacity. Naturally, Sneedacity starts winning, then he immediately closes the vote and starts a new one.
On the second vote, shit like "Sneed means special needs" starts getting posted by trannies called in to moderate, but Sneed suggestions are still getting the most votes.
Cookiengineer, the webdev maintainer starts melting down. He begins by claiming on Twitter that his pinephone got around 70 calls, but it didn't crash. A few hours later, he claims it did crash his phone. In the meantime, he begins responding and directly quoting posts about him in the /g/ thread on his GitHub bio. Later, he also claims that anons from /g/ were apparently knocking on the windows and doors of his house. Last night, his insanity steps up by claiming that some anon stabbed him at his house with a butterfly knife.
I'm pretty sure the guy is going through some kind of psychotic breakdown. His reactions to what is happening seems to switch between scared out of his mind and gloating about it constantly. The notion that somebody got stabbed over Sneedposting is fucking insane, and cookiengineer's claims of what is happening to him have escalated exponentially.

So, will any of these forks put work in to fix things that have needed fixing for years now such as lack of multichannel recording outside the specially compiled builds or how 95% of the plugins it comes with don't have realtine functionality, or is it going to be like Glimpse and they all die and we all go back to a company siphoning .au chunks whenever they want.
