Tabletop Community Watch

Larry Elmore's art may be coom bait, but at least it's well done coom bait. Sword thirsty lesbians and meatpunks's drawings look like steven universe characters in a contest to see who can get their parents the most pissed off. Both look like they were done on a shitty laptop in some crustpunk's basement. (I guess they very probably were)
I disagree on the term coom bait. There are obvious sexual fantasy elements in old art, from fat bitches eating fruit to barbarian women wearing nothing but a thong. It was a mild form of pornography where porn magazines weren't always showing penetration and most women went full bush to cover their naughty bits. With pornography being so readily available of any ilk you want to pleasure yourself with the more extreme elements have co opted fantasy into their sexual domain. Sexualized monster girls are now a common topic of discussion where it used to be taboo beyond the usual lads banter. We went from vampires being sexual predators to volumes of content about Mommy snake lady eating me. Tabletop adopted furry style sexualization, which I consider to be coomer mentality as opposed to healthy sexual desires within a fantasy setting.

This is hard for me.
Didn't mean to drive you off man. Just try and either multi-reply or wait a little bit between replies when deep diving a thread.

Did anyone here order Giantlands?
I did. First tabletop set I've bought since the early 90s.

They bailed on Social Media. Maybe that's for the best.

Edit2: Actually, looks like they're rebranding the company instead.

The TOP MINDS of Troon Twitter are chasing them down, to make sure they aren't left alone until there's no clout in harassing them:

Do you think companies will ever just abandon social media altogether to avoid hall monitors? Aside from an RSS feed that just reposts website updates and sales coupons, there's no benefit to having a social media presence.
If they're smart, they won't interact with anyone, just post announcements and zoidberg out. ESPECIALLY with troon harassment squads running around.

The less interaction Twitter gets, the less influence it has -- and more importantly, the less influence the 8% of Twitter users who are "very online" sociopaths have.

That's the ideal, yes. Unfortunately, we've seen that TSR/Wonderfiled/whateverthefuck they turn into next can't seem to be able to keep whoever is in control of their twitter account on a short leash.

Still say they should have come out swinging.

100% agreed. If they had doubled or even tripled down on offending trannies and communists it would only have improved their business prospects. It's not like they were ever getting their con booths back after the mob decided to attack.

Once GenCon revealed themselves to be complete turbo faggots they should have gone full slash and burn. I would have at least had some respect for them.

If they'd called GenCon out on catering to the very bullies that used to torment everyone, for giving into the catladies and soy-golems that never buy anything but ruin everyone's fun, and pointed out that GenCon has had some serious problems in the last decade or so, I'd have respected that.

As it stands, I don't trust them not to cave and have the "Big Book of Troon Sex" as a supplement.

You cave once and kneel to kiss the girlcock ring, you're gonna cave again.

They should have just went absolutely fucking crazy on them.

Well, yes. But actually, no. Remember, the mob has this habit of trying to go after everything associated with you. Including your distribution contracts, your payment processor, your spouse's employer... It's better to ignore the mob and just focus on releasing an actual product. Trying to argue with idiots on twitter is like playing a rigged game. You might feel like you're winning, but you're still going to leave worse off than you started.

I think they did, when they accused WoTC of orchestrating the harassment behind the scenes.

E: To be clear, I don't doubt for a second some of the Woke WoTC staff immediately joined in on this attack and signal boosted it as hard as they could. I would even go so far as to suggest they probably started making calls and name-dropping WoTC on TSR's business partners. But there's a far cry from that and WoTC-the-entity doing it.

You are so wrong it hurts 404. Twitter doesn't have any interaction, all it's validation comes from journalists using it in their stories. It won't lose relevance while half the news cycle is what Trump posted on social media and what child's mother groomed them into posting some activist crap. It has no relevance to normal people now.

They aren't the bullies that used to torment everyone. They're the losers who always lurked around roleplaying. They used to use yahoo chat to erotic roleplay as little girls because they had no friends and their parents gave them internet access before they were teenagers.

The majority of them don't go after family members and try to get you shut down. That's a very small group who know who to complain to and how to exploit the auto moderation systems. There's no reason the anti-crowd couldn't do the same if they wanted to. #metoo is so easy to exploit and point at key figures, one guy running a couple of fake accounts could target some big names and have them lynched the month before gencon. Dig up old tweets now considered fascist on them and start shit storms. The right choose not to use the modern weapons the left do and they're losing for it. Infiltrate and turn their entire game back on them until you have wiped out all the big names in the industry picking it.

Absolutely. But you know what starves the media of attention? Ignoring the rainbow haired freaks to death.

TSR can hide replies. They can mute and block accounts. They don't have to reply, and they shouldn't reply. Post their announcements, then wait for the rainbow haired retards to swarm, block them all, hide their replies, and repeat for a week. It's the same strategy you use to deal with a phisher or other scam artist -- if you waste their time, they'll move on. The Wokeists don't get to have their clout if they can't be seen dunking on them and they'll go away.

The whole concept of, "our company needs to engage with its customers"... No, it doesn't. Companies got by just fine with barely any contact with customers before social media, if there's a good product you do not need a Twitter account, forum, community managers, or any of that shit. Put out your thing, ignore the retarded masses, cash checks.

You'll want feedback from paying customers, but even then you're not mandated to actually use any of that feedback. As I said on the general TTRPG thread, this is why you have to actually own and play a game in order to review it on Steam. No matter what reviewers say, no matter what twitter screeches about, the only people that matter are the ones who have bought your game, and the ones who are likely to buy it. And we know how fond of meaningless boycotting of products they don't even consume these people are.

E-mail and private forums are how you engage with your fanbase. There's plenty of companies making good use of Reddit and Facebook too. It's Twitter you have to avoid.

Most customer feedback isn't very useful. For every well thought out post you see there will be hundreds bitching things they died to need nerfing. E-mail is a good filter for that kind of complaining, spergs won't take the time to send one, while someone more thoughtful will. It takes more effort to find the address and send it than opening your twitter app and spewing bile at companies.

I assumed it was an exaggeration. That's how I meant it anyway. Larry Elmore is probably the greatest dragon painters out of all of the dragon painters. Teenagers pre-internet tho would take what they could get.

It's Twitter you have to avoid.
This. Or at the very least just make your damn announcement and close the damn browser and go work on something that is actually productive.

Cucking doesn't stop people from doing that though, it only confirms that TSR is evil and guilty in their heads.

That was my point. Both cucking and standing in defiance confirm that you're Literally Hitler in the minds of these people and it gives them more incentive to keep going after you.

The only winning move is not to play. Don't engage the mob, use twitter for product and event announcements, and maybe (just maybe) answer the occasional product-relation question asked in good faith. If someone asks "will the system include levels, or will progression be handled differently?", that might warrant a tweet. Otherwise, just get off fucking twitter.

Once you're a target you're always going to be a target and nothing stops the slander. Call it a conspiracy theory all you want but there is definitely industry insiders using the mob to take down potential rivals. It's too easy to set them off and get them to fire talented people. Leftists are over socialized and spend all of their time networking among each other on social media and mailing lists (Games journo pro) doing these types of thing. If you went to college with someone more talented than you and they rubbed you the wrong way you can talk to a leftist journo and get a hit piece made on just about any one. An anonymous source doesn't have to be real.

The tabletop game industry is very small and the old guard in Nottingham have their fingers in all the pies locking out new blood from getting the big jobs. They are the ones still holding out against the leftists because they're already established and know their fanbase are fat old white men collecting historics for the most part. The leftists infiltrate in the HR, writing and art departments claiming the old guard's former glories for clout.
