It's odd how none of these big youtubers have thought perhaps all these guys pretending to have DID after it being a huge youtube trend and a current tiktok trend are just jumping on DreamSMP stuff because it's also a huge youtube trend. They let their craziest and most dishonest fans run their shit and run any casual fans out.
I am surprise to, youtubers would make bank with that subject. I can already see it “PEOPLE FAKING MENTAL ILLNESS GRINGE #47”.

i like dream's videos. the recent one with the random items was fucking hilarious, like something out of a saturday morning cartoon. dream sopping up an entire river with sponges, his friends trying to keep him from scaling their tower by pouring buckets of poisonous fish onto his head, him charging into battle wearing nothing but a pair of diamond pants and a turtle shell on his head and his friends shitting themselves and running away at the sight of his sheer tenacity. it's video game slapstick.
Rate me 🧩 but I feel like in your way you've cut to the reason why people like his content.

Yeah, which is why it doesn't seem to me that he "groomed 20 million people".
Most people who like the manhunts, death swaps, etc probably aren't extreme stans - they just find the videos entertaining. I'd say the SMP roleplay stuff is what really generates the big stans. Also explains why the majority of them don't play the game as well, since the SMP just uses it as a platform for their "show" while the YouTube videos have him utilizing more of the game's mechanics (pretty much every trick he does in them is an example of this).

Dreams old Videos are bland people doing interesting stuff. DreamSMP is bland people doing bland stuff.

I'm a big fan of TTRPG and like to watch that stuff on YT. After month of lockdown, not being able to play myself and most YT content getting paused for the same reasons I thought using Minecraft as a platform to play an RPG seemed like an interesting Idea.
What I got were cringy people doing nothing...
The only entertaining parts of DreamSMP were Technoblade and Philza, simply becaused they didn't give a shit and just liked to hang out with each other. (And - on a side note- thereby revealed that Dream is obsessivly monitoring the content of all his "friends".)

There's still a grain of possibility of using Minecraft--a kid's block game--to pull off an engrossing story and whatnot, but even DreamSMP, arguably the de-factor attempt of this, rarely sticks its landings. The attempts at acting and story are there, but it can oftentimes be bland. Suffice it to say that all these fans creating art, songs, and animatics are the true factors that pump up the "mainstream appeal" of the DSMP, making things appear larger than life compared to what you see recorded in the videos.

And I do believe you've touched on something here that I haven't seen others bring up before yet: Dream's monitoring of everyone's streams to a certain degree.

There was a point where Phil and Techno were dicking around and found a stronghold, which was a non-no since going into the End was against the rules of the SMP. A few minutes into them finding the portal room, Dream's admin account logged into the server and destroyed the portal frame, permanently disabling access from that specific portal. Only after Techno's joking pleading into his stream that they were just going to use it as a coffee table did the admin account come back and restore it, albeit non-functional.

Now this bit might be scripted, but I believe that there are a handful of other opportunities where Dream monitors what the other players are doing via their livestreams. Overall, this is relatively benign and inoffensive, but it's such a bizarre thing to do and sheds further light into Clayton and how he approaches the Dream SMP as "his baby" to some degree.

I was able to get into a few of Clay's other accounts recently so posting what they had here. Nothing new or interesting really, except for a few things noted in the spoiler tag. All had similar variations of the same pasword, ilikepie.

HBOMax. He even queerbaits to himself. I might add that the email is unverified, so it could just be some troll.
espn.png

ESPN. Judging from the email, this account was created in December 6th, 2011. Clay would have been 12 years old when the account was created.

NFL. His real birthday is August 12th, 1999. The NFL account was likely created when he was below 18, as some other accounts he has made when below 18 will have the same fake birthday. Zip code matches two past addresses in dox.

Hulu.
Edit: found another account from CBSSports.

Tbh, those are my thoughts with his videos. I know the main appeal I had with his content was that video game slapstick, combined with some general nostalgia. I definitely had some fond memories playing Minecraft with friends back in high school, which was definitely the vibe Clay's videos gave me.

I feel like a good chunk of his adult viewers are watching for similar reasons. I mean a good chunk of us definitely have memories of playing multiplayer games with our friends that quickly devolved into screaming and panicking.

Ew, this guy's a Steeler's fan? Man, fuck that, #DreamisOver

The fans he has from his Minecraft challenges, people who like Dream as a Minecraft player, are very different from the SMP stans, who like him as a fictional character. Fans of the latter can probably be converted to fans of the former, but it's not as easy the other way around. People who like Dream from his gay server melodrama are more likely to be interested in also watching him fuck around with his friends in game and do cool tricks, than the other way around (people who watch for him being the manhunt MLG boat guy becoming interested in Minecraft roleplay)

Dream just sent out a mass text to his hoarde of drooling fans and as you might expect the kids on twitter are going wild.
He sounds like Puppychan when she's putting on her (equally fake) "uwu I'm a wholesome little minority artist who kids can look up to" act. And this is the shit kids on Twitter eat up these days

That just oozes parasocial, no wonder his fans are insane given how much he initiates and feeds into that with his community.

I'm pretty sure no one has talked about this here, but in dream's instagram there's one picture of the suppossed "Dream" with his hoodie down and in the photo you can see that the guy has brown hair. I remember that at the time a lot of people thought it was george but you can clearly see that its the same guy from the others posts and it IS definetively Coleton.

Pretty late on that one buddy, this was discussed quite a while ago

It seems Dream has purchased yet another Minecraft account, "NotDream123".

notdream123.png

He seems to have purchased it to use as a character in the Dream SMP. The character uses any pronouns, and stans have been freaking out on Twitter over this, mostly calling the character "she" or cramming as many pronouns as they can fit into their tweets. You can't make this shit up.
