I don't watch anime and I know personally I might rather one of my family members walk in on me watching porn than walk in on me watching anime. Many people aged 40 and over don't even know what anime is, and they'd be weirded out if they saw it, because barring a small selection of examples that are slightly more restrained (Cowboy Bebop comes to mind) or ones that don't take themselves too seriously (like maybe One Punch Man) it's really bizarre and juvenile even before you add in the creepy fanservice, and as soon as clumsy big tit anime girls with voices like Mickey Mouse after he just huffed helium get involved it immediately causes any regular person to cringe and shut it off.

Thing is: That's totally fine, I consider what we do here on KF to be ridiculous too, but obsessively attacking the few people who like the same stupid thing you do because it's not exactly what you do is the kind of thing that could only be a product of piece of shit sites like Twitter where you can pretend everyone except the like 10 people who agree with you on everything just don't exist.
I would say I cast a somewhat more suspicious eye towards loli enthusiasts specifically, but compared to how bizarre anime enthusiasts as a whole are the difference is pretty insubstantial.


TL;DR: Get the hell out of here with the moral crusading, weebs. Watch your anime and enjoy being cringe together and shut the fuck up.

The issue here isn't really weirdos on the Internet doing this. The issue here are these self-absorbed A-Logs that think they're better than everyone else when I can bet you the money in my pocket that these A-Logs have a lot of skeletons in their closets then. Think back to many years ago to when Antony LoGatto would used to harass Chris-Chan back then and how Antony LoGatto would later on get exposed as a piece of shit and arguably a worse person than CWC then.

So as much fun as it may be to poke fun at weirdos being into these sort of things, the losers that sperg out more than the weirdos somehow turn out to be bigger losers than the weirdos they keep attacking anyway. There's a reason why A-Logging is looked down upon because A-Logging doesn't really contribute to anything and A-Logs most of the time make bigger asses of themselves than the people they constantly keep on attacking by the way.

Thing is, the moral crusaders here aren't weebs, they're western apologist "antis" (what a stupid term) who release their anti-Asian racism by attacking every aspect of what they see as "problematic Japanese culture", and anime fans as "weird shut-ins".
I don't watch much anime, but even I know it's not "mostly bizarre and juvenile", that's just what the "antis" have turned the public opinion on anime into. The presence of fanservice is often overstated, and the high-pitch voice thing isn't as much of a problem as it was in some 2000s anime.

Hmm. I think accusing people who find anime to be a bit sketchy of racism is a bit hyperbolic. It's easy to just get a superficial view of the most fanservicey stuff and think of it as representing all of Japanese animation while still not feeling ill will to the Japanese or Asians in general. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that they don't know there's more to anime than shows where the boy trips and falls into the girl's volleyball-sized tits every other episode.

I'm going to have to only partially agree here, as I have seen some of the "all Japanese are pedos" takes come from these folks. I think that when you constantly mask as a perfect beacon of social justice, you may want to get a jab or two in at a group of people you can easily demonize, because honestly, who is going to defend a minority group if you're labeling them all as pedos? Funny, because people in other cultures have infinitely worse practices than drawing anime girls (need I bring up certain religions?) and everyone is expected to tolerate them without question. Makes you think.

I digress though. I don't think it's rooted in racism (I'd argue that's only a fraction of these folks), especially since western artists get attacked for the same thing. I just legitimately think these are kids wrapped up in the social media brianrot who think that screaming on Twitter for sixteen hours a day qualifies as "activism." I have seen some of these people say they have a legitimate moral obligation to bitch at artists for drawing this kind of stuff, or else they'd be "complicit" in the issue. It's a mind-boggling attitude that was planted on Tumblr, cultivated there a few years, and then spread its spores over to Twitter once the porn ban happened.

I think we both agree with each other, but don't realize that we do. "Japan is a pedo's paradise" is a brainlet take that comes from a handful of anime fans, sure, but mostly from antis. It is weird that by comparison western civilization is held up on a pedestal by these people compared to the "backwards" East considering the main Western religion is Christianity, in which the virgin Mary was twelve or thirteen when forced to give birth to Jesus, supposedly.

I don't care if people find anime weird, that's fine. It tends to reflect cultural values and artistic expressions and desires that some in the West find baffling. What IS racist is catching one glimpse of a teen anime girl's panties and thinking "so this is what they're into, huh?".

It's perfectly fine to rape women and young girls in parts of the Middle East, but drawing lolis/shotas is apparently akin to gassing the Jews to antis. Goes to show where their priorities lie. At least Smash Bros pedo deflectors will link to a charity when chimping out, but these antis can't even do the bare minimum since they're so focused on stopping pedophilia secretly jerking off to this stuff.
