Movie's fine. Didn't really catch much of the school seasons, kind of outgrew CN by that point.

He's also done voice work for Owl House and Amphiba.Yeah as the person above just said, he’s the producer of a new show with another GF alumni and did some work alongside another GF alumni with Mitchells vs the Machines, so he probably has some work with Netflix once Owl House is over. OTOH his attempts at breaking into Hollywood haven’t been as successful and he’s far from rising hotshot animator he was when GF was airing.
What a monkey's paw situation. The Owl House fandom is having a fuckibng stroke right now because Luz (who is stated to be bisexual) spoke to a b o y.
Now they convinced themselves they're siblings, because they can't admit he's a better character than Amity.
edit: shoot, this was supposed to go to the shipping thread, but we were discussing TOH anyway. The recent episode is actually pretty good, maybe the show will redeem itself because stuff about the convent and the emperor are more interesting than romance shit. Hunter is a good character, but it's fucking hilarious how hypocritical Lumity hos are.
What if Dana's been baiting us all along?
edit2: Fans are rallying on twitter to save the show but looking through the hashtag it's mostly Lumity shit. Literally all they care about.
You know these people didn't watch the series until Lumity happened, since Luz was repeatedly thirsty af for several random background macho male characters.
Even with corporations, most creatives, marketing teams, the fucking government and news outlets catering to their demand for Gay Alphabet stuff, they just can't get enough. After all they're still pissy the boys from Luca not being cocksuckers. If Ramona Flowers ruined women, Steven Universe (and by extension Adventure Time) ruined gays.Honestly I think SJWs only come to shows once they trough a gay character in.
What I wanna know is where's the caveman?Shaggy: boy am I glad we're out here and he's frozen in there.
Now that you mention it, I'm actually curious as to what the catalyst for all the tumblr culture shit was because I'm pretty sure it happened way before AT and SU were a thing. Feels like it just came out of nowhere (specifically the gender stuff, not the gays obviously). What a monkey's paw situation.
"I wish for my show to be popular!"
*show is popular specifically among horny genderspecials*
Has anyone noticed ever since Rowling said/did shit that wasn't PC, almost every famous media maker has been trying like crazy to make something similar to it in the hopes they could be the new Pottershit? Magic schools, magic wars, magic queermos, and of course MaGic PrOm! In this fruitless effort to do so they've made magic fantasy staler than a bag of chips from 1995.

Maybe it's the reasoning of "This magical fantasy shit sells well and is beloved--but we'll make things explicitly gay and get it RIGHT--unlike that British TERF and her millions of dollars in cash!"Has anyone noticed ever since Rowling said/did shit that wasn't PC, almost every famous media maker has been trying like crazy to make something similar to it in the hopes they could be the new Pottershit? It's not even since J.K. angered the church of latter day wokdom. Companies are shameless and when things start to do well they will try to hop aboard the hype. Hence why we got movies like Legend of the Seeker, it's more about profit than pandering.Has anyone noticed ever since Rowling said/did shit that wasn't PC, almost every famous media maker has been trying like crazy to make something similar to it in the hopes they could be the new Pottershit? The cheese was the best character in that show. He was better than both the Bologna and the Salami combined.Notice the texture of this meatloaf! And the pineapples give it a festive touch!
The meatloaf should be spongy, yet firm!
Don't just touch it! Embrace it!
I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say it started with shippers. As far backs the 90s, people have loved themselves some gays and lesbians, mostly for shipping/horny reasons. As the years went by, fringe id politics slowly started picking up online. Eventually, with the advent of social media, these two things collided, creating the modern fandoms as we know them. Now that you mention it, I'm actually curious as to what the catalyst for all the tumblr culture shit was because I'm pretty sure it happened way before AT and SU were a thing. In regards to Owl House, it feels like a bit of column A and column B. It really seems to be trying hard to be the ultimate 2010s cartoon, pandering to the deep lore GF crowd and the shipping/LGBT+ SU/She Ra crowd. Throw in the ever popular HP style magic school and you have a perfect trend chasing cartoon. It's not even since J.K. angered the church of latter day wokdom. Well before then. ST: TOS had to tell people submitting Kirk/Spock slash as scripts to knock that shit off and that was in the '60s.I’m going to take a stab in the dark and say it started with shippers. "I don't understand this at all I don't understand any of this. Why does a story have to be socio-anything? Politics... Culture... History... Aren't those natural ingredients in any story.... If it's told well? I mean... " He looks around, sees hostile eyes, and realizes dimly that they see this as some sort of attack. Maybe it even is they are thinking, he realizes, that maybe there is sexist death merchant in their midst. "I mean... Can't you guys let a story be a story?
Owl House does seem to be branching off from its clear inspiration which I can respect. It's very easy to judge things on their first impression and just leave it with that, lord knows I've done it many times over the years. As for your second point, that's another thing that's easy to conflate with the creators praising their own work (which is usually just giving credit to how hard their teams work). Most times when you hear articles popping up about how something is the gayest thing ever, the most inclusive etc. etc. it's not the showrunner saying these things, but it's so easy to not fact check and just assume they are since it fits the narrative.Which is unfair towards Owl House, it is not pure rip off and a lot of its references are funny (the Sorting Hat one got me chuckling). But it is very clear the puff pieces and fandom are trying to demand it follows all the current social media trends.
The depressing irony is that the man who wrote that bit is Stephen King, a chronic sufferer of TDS who probably approves of all this shit.I legit feel bad for owl house. In the current year climate it can't just be an animated show about a girl leaning magic after realizing it exists. It's not animated but allow me to quote Steven king's IT
Those DID used to be the natural ingredients for telling a story but those "hostile eyes." are now everywhere. Not just in the campus' of liberal colleges but on twitter and in some cases the writer's rooms that make western cartoons. Said hostiles are second only to parents and kids when it comes to being the consumer who funds and supports western animation, so whatever they want they get.
motion to move these posts into an owl house megathread? Show of hands?Owl House does seem to be branching off from its clear inspiration which I can respect. Might be for the best, we are going on a bit of a tangent right now.motion to move these posts into an owl house megathread? Show of hands?
The original was 100 minutes long, though. (Back in Action was just over 90 minutes. Another reason why it is the superior film.)I've been going through random Looney Tunes shorts because of Space Jam 2 coming out and I forgot just how entertaining they were. The most impressive part about them to me is that most of them never overstay their welcome. They're paced perfectly to tell the story they want in 6 - 10 minutes. Meanwhile Space Jam 2 is 2 hours long.
Movies need to justify their runtime, but they usually don't have enough story to justify being 2 hours or more, especially all these shitty live action Hollywood blockbusters. They also have awful pacing too. Most animated films are only an hour and a half because they get more expensive the more stuff they have to animate (and they are movies for kids at the end of the day). That's not the problem, though. The problem is no movie can be 90 minutes long anymore.
