Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

Off topic, but does anyone remember the rare Flintstones special Cartoon Network made, called "On the Rocks"? I believe it was the only time C-N made use of a Hanna-Barbera property in this way. It's quite interesting, albeit controversial. It was an attempt by C-N to mimic the earlier, more "adult" episodes of the original show:

As someone who never watched the older episodes, how does the special compare?

So this probably should go under Disney general but I guess it fits here.

Kinda sucks house of mouse is still not on Disney plus, it was one of the few things they made in the Early to mid 2000s that was actually good, and considering this was the era that gave us the death of 2d theatrical animation, and Disney's California adventure that's saying something.

Supposedly there are people at the company who don't like it, and that's why it's not there.

Scumbags. House of Mouse was awsome.
JFC what would they have against hom?.... *Remembers who works for the company now and what they do produce* Oh yeah.

Well on the plus side uploads of the show to YouTube seem to be plentiful and tend to go under Disney's radar. I think that's one good thing to come out of this coppa debacle. So long as you list your upload as "made for kids." (And it's not a show or property they're willing to promote themselves and don't really care about) it might survive the copyright gestapo.

maybe SPOP lowered my standards but I enjoyed MoTU. I didn't care that much for Teela, but she's not the only character that matters. The best part was Evil Lyn's friendship with Orko... I cried.
Anyway, Skeletor RULEZ
no, Adam didn't die again, he just got stabbed, Kevin Smith confirmed he's alive. Teela will not replace He-man, it's implied she has her own hidden magical powers. I'm interested where this is going. Adam/Teela shippy moments imply she's someone he needs by his side because they're equals, she doesn't overpower He-man nor she's threatened by him being stronger than her. Teela didn't make Adam's death about herself, she was genuinely upset about losing her friend and she was going through the anger stage of griefing. All I'm saying, the "sjw" stuff people got completely wrong.

time for another no context animation line thing:

Squidward: I'll evacuate the customers, you call the navy!
SpongeBob: [runs over to the phone] Hello, Operator? Get me the Navy!
Operator: Hello, you've reached the Navy's automated phone service.
SpongeBob: Squidward, the robots are running the Navy!
Squidward: Not the Navy!

Season 3 of Amphibia is dropping in October. It'll also have a 22min Christmas special with a song written by Rebecca Sugar.

Thank god about the Rebecca Sugar answer
I honestly don't know how I feel about Ru- Paul guest starring. How about you
I'm not really familiar with them outside of Drag Race (which I haven't watched, I mostly hear about it through my friends). The guest list for S3 seems decent:

- Whoopi Goldberg
- Kate Micucci (Sadie in SU)
- Brad Garret
- Anika Noni Rose (Tiana in Princess and the Frog)

Neat guest cast. I don't really watch Drag Race either. So I know who Ru-Paul is, just don't know too much about him

If you haven’t seen this as a fan of animation, you are doing yourself a serious disservice.

A bit of random rambling about netflix animated shows. Frist of all, imma give props to some of the work these animation companies have done. Its not their fault that the animation they have done has been brought down by shit plot or writing. So to start out with Castlevania, man I really loved the first two seasons of the show, and if it had ended after two seasons it would have been damn near perfect. However the third season was crap, and the fourth season was just mediocre, with the worst thing being the dialogue. Having the big bad Death swear like a fucking spaztic retard who can't pull of a decent insult to save his life really just fucked with my enjoyment of the scenes.

Then we got the Dragons Dogma CG anime, which was shit, because of shitty CGI (for the love of God people, please stick to traditional 2D animation, its just much more pleasing to the eyes. Then we got the Dota anime, I watched it, i'd give it a 5.5/6 out of 10. I don't really know crap about Dota lore, but it kept me somewhat entertained while I was drunk off my ass.

Which brings us to the most resent disaster, which is one of the worst, He-Man. Even knowing that a bait and switch was coming, the animation is the trailer just looked awesome. And I already said this in the He-Man thread, but I ain't watching it, but from what I hear, the bait and switch isn't nearly as bad as Teela just being a massive cunt. Point being its a shame that animation companies that can put out quality animation products have to deal with working with Netflix and its shit writers ruining shows that could have been pretty damn awesome to watch.

I dread the coming Witcher animated show. The animation looks alright instead of amazing, and I know its gonna probably suck story wise, since its Netflix, but I really want it to be good. I'm just a big witcher fan, and not just from the video game series but also the books. I thought maybe this animated show can capture a better picture of the setting and world than the live action show did. This rant is brought to you by half a bottle of Captain Morgan Spiced Gold, please don't bully my alcohol preferences, I'm a delicate drunk.
