Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

=]
time for another no context animation line thing:

Squidward: I'll evacuate the customers, you call the navy!
SpongeBob: [runs over to the phone] Hello, Operator? Get me the Navy!
Operator: Hello, you've reached the Navy's automated phone service.
SpongeBob: Squidward, the robots are running the Navy!
Squidward: Not the Navy!
yeah i love doing those really helps alleviate the grief to think back to all the good times animation has brought speaking of...

Grim: Kid never heard of mouthwash! Is this the website?

Wiggly: no you typed it wrong there are two s's

*Sounds of monkeys screaming make grim freak out*

Grim: WHOA! 0-0 Hey now don't look over here! This isn't for children to se! Whoo I better close this window!

A bit of random rambling about netflix animated shows. Frist of all, imma give props to some of the work these animation companies have done. Its not their fault that the animation they have done has been brought down by shit plot or writing. So to start out with Castlevania, man I really loved the first two seasons of the show, and if it had ended after two seasons it would have been damn near perfect. However the third season was crap, and the fourth season was just mediocre, with the worst thing being the dialogue. Having the big bad Death swear like a fucking spaztic retard who can't pull of a decent insult to save his life really just fucked with my enjoyment of the scenes.

Then we got the Dragons Dogma CG anime, which was shit, because of shitty CGI (for the love of God people, please stick to traditional 2D animation, its just much more pleasing to the eyes. Then we got the Dota anime, I watched it, i'd give it a 5.5/6 out of 10. I don't really know crap about Dota lore, but it kept me somewhat entertained while I was drunk off my ass.

Which brings us to the most resent disaster, which is one of the worst, He-Man. Even knowing that a bait and switch was coming, the animation is the trailer just looked awesome. And I already said this in the He-Man thread, but I ain't watching it, but from what I hear, the bait and switch isn't nearly as bad as Teela just being a massive cunt. Point being its a shame that animation companies that can put out quality animation products have to deal with working with Netflix and its shit writers ruining shows that could have been pretty damn awesome to watch.

I dread the coming Witcher animated show. The animation looks alright instead of amazing, and I know its gonna probably suck story wise, since its Netflix, but I really want it to be good. I'm just a big witcher fan, and not just from the video game series but also the books. I thought maybe this animated show can capture a better picture of the setting and world than the live action show did. This rant is brought to you by half a bottle of Captain Morgan Spiced Gold, please don't bully my alcohol preferences, I'm a delicate drunk.
The He-Man thing is more a combination of both bad marketing, misleading reviews, and the characters being utter faggots. Not gay faggot, although that's certainly part of it, but just the kind that doesn't keep a normal person invested for long. It's telling that Belmont, the kind of asshole you'd want to punch in the face if you ever met him in real life, is more likeable and actually appealing.

I think that's what these writers struggle against. That they think people like asshole characters because they're assholes.

So, going by that "logic", maybe writing a character into an even bigger asshole will make them Michael Jackson levels of popular.

It's dumb, it's ridiculous, but that's what's happening right now. I really can't explain it in any other way since this isn't something normal people can feasibly rationalize with a straight head.

Other than rage bait and marketing, you tell me that the ones behind this trend are "normal people" and I'll definitely cringe.

Trevor is voiced by Richard Armitage, so that helps a lot with his likability factor.

"Why is it considered not valid to love a show for two characters' relationship with another?"
excuseme.gif

Bitch, Lumity is all anyone ever really talks about when it comes to The Owl House! So much so, that when a male character was introduced as a potential love interest for Luz (Hunter), you flipped your shit and declared their relationship to be more like siblings so that your precious pedophilic lesbo relationship wouldn't be ruined! These people legit live in an alternate reality from ours, Jesus Christ.

Neat guest cast. I don't really watch Drag Race either. So I know who Ru-Paul is, just don't know too much about him
I don't know, having Ru-Paul be a guest on the show, doesn't sound good because it just support gays and especially don't like that not only is Rebecca Sugar doing a song for this, but having the voice actor for Sadie from SU just gives me bad vibes. Especially when this happened:

The Owl House and Amphibia are two Disney cartoons of the same coin. Both helmed by Gravity Falls alumni, they share chaotic energy and a broad premise: young girls spirited away into magical lands away from the human world and making friends with the inhabitants.
Except that one does the concept infinitely better, while the other is a poor man's Little Witch Academia made solely for the purpose of getting the creator's and Twitterati's rocks off. Also could be the reason why the infinitely better one is getting a proper third season, and the poor man's LWA has to make do with 3 44 minute specials and pleas to said Twitterati:
As for The Owl House, Terrace stated the show has not been granted a third season extension. She encouraged fans on social media to share their love of the series in the hope of producing “spinoffs, shorts, comics.”
LOL, cope harder Dana! Nobody (sane and rational) wants to watch your fucking show, quit fooling yourself! Inb4 cries of "HOMOPHOBIA KILLED MY SHOW REEEEEEE!"

So in case anyone's interested there's this upload of the 2010 Animated tie in to Dante's inferno available on YouTube, and it's survived almost a full decade without a copyright claim by EA

I debated weather to post this here or in the anime section considering some of the 6 studios who worked on it were based on Japan including some who worked on the og ghost in the shell, blood the last vampire, and samurai champo . But it is made by an American company to market and advertise an American video game so I considered it a western animation influenced by anime akin to the Castlevania series (which it kinda reminds me of at times). The animation style is all over the place again because like 6 or so different worked on it all with different styles meshed together and it has two noticable VAS in it, Steven Blum and Mark Hamill, thought Hamill is kinda wasted. Little more than a cameo unfortunately.

I was read that Owl House TMS article and the tweets featured in it. Notice that nobody talks about the actual show itself, they just praise it for representation.
See both of my posts above. They always praise it for "REPRESENTASHUN!" because that's literally all they have. Without it, it's just a run-of-the-mill "girl travels to fantasy world" story that's been done a million times before and better (Amphibia included).
