Well, now. That's interesting. I just looked up the AP rules for quotes and "[w]e do not alter quotations, even to correct grammatical errors or word usage." The article says that, in his email, he told them that, "there is no evidence of any harassment." Those words are not in his email.It’s actually the way the AP styleguide requires reporting on suicide. If a reporter writes something else (ie committed suicide) and their publication follows AP style, it will get changed by whomever is in charge.
