There's a reason that our favorite loudmouth is perpetually stunted in adolescence. Children learn about problems and how to solve them. Teenagers learn that there are problems that either have difficult solutions or no solutions at all. Sometimes it means a solution would come by crossing a sacred or legal line. Teenagers get really pissy and angsty about it. They write poems and make effigies of dolls named "racism," then stab them with a dozen needles and post it on Instagram.

Adulthood is marked by the moment people recognize that the sun is going to be in the sky all day and there's nothing they can do to change that. The only thing you can control is your response to it. If you don't want to get burned, you put on sunblock or a hat. Bob, on the other hand, has spent the last ten years pointing an angry finger and pouting on Twitter that nobody's doing anything about the sun. More so, enlightened types like him want the sun destroyed but superstitious folks wearing sunblock and hats in Kansas won't let them.

While agnostic, ignoring Christian wisdom because the source doesn't completely gel with my internal logic is the apex of ignorance. A clever guy named Niebuhr once wrote:

This creates a choice. One side leads to regular socialization, heathy diet, and maybe a crumb of pussy on occasion. My first reaction to Bob's reaction to this particular two-button meme: Moviebob preferring to spend ten minutes in space instead of ending world hunger proves that Bob does not give a flying FUCK about making the world a better place. Moviebob always puts his desires above the needs of others.

I found this exchange fascinating.

First Robert downplays Amazon as merely "the post office" not realizing that Amazon (and its fellow companies) have basically forced the recreation of the post office and similar companies to operate at faster speeds for NO additional costs through all kinds of measures. And it's been a global effect. Not just in the United States. Not to mention what they've done for the internet which Robert doesn't "see" so doesn't count even though his entire lifestyle (such as it is) relies on technologies Amazon/Google (which is merely a phone book) supply at incredibly low costs.

Then for the second section, ending world hunger is considered a distribution problem, not a resource problem. If anything, Amazon is a model for solving it AND poverty by decreasing the distribution costs to nil. Redistributing wealth isn't an answer because it quickly becomes a resource problem, wealth isn't a renewable resource on both ends. This "ambassador" for fighting global poverty doesn't seem to realize that the war on global poverty has been incredibly successful over the last 20-30 years, and it's been through solving distribution problems. One of the largest distribution problems being the states that steal and manipulate resources into their own pockets rather than allow them to distribute freely to the people. Hence, the terrible track record of "aid" to most of the world since the Marshall Plan ushered in the modern age of international aid efforts. Just the fact of India, China, Brazil and select other nations in the Southern Hemisphere letting up slightly on the theft has caused a tremendous boom in the standard of living globally. Yet they treat it so lightly, when literal billions have been brought out of true despairing poverty and lifted into the global economy.

A lot of people have no idea that a significant distance combined with transportation costs can make a cargo completely worthless or even lose money. Even though this is a fairly well known issue when looking at resource extraction, refinement, and use.

If you tried to explain to Bob that the best thing for food and medical distribution is to reduce the shipping costs for everything in the entire chain down to nearly zero, he'd just stare at you blankly and then start whining about how Jeff Bezos isn't doing enough because he's not giving his money to magical black women.

Even if you showed him the math, which has been standardized for literally centuries, he'd never understand the whole thing.

Another thing to bring food costs down is to make food a byproduct of another manufacturing system. A byproduct that can be then sold cheaply because the main product is what really makes your money and it's more profitable to sell the food item than to destroy it.

But, good luck trying to explain that to ol' Hep-Legs Bob.

The most amusing part is that the Mayo Ghouls understand this. Crop viability and economic strength with shipping cost is part of farming.

Bob wouldn't understand it if you held a cheeseburger out of his reach.
