Very minor sideshow, but it made me chuckle. Anyway, on r/AskHistorians someone named genderfluidhistorian asks about Heliogabalus (a teenage Roman emperor who is infamous for, amongst other sex crimes, prostituting himself though as always there is debate about whether this is true or propaganda). Now, just the name genderfluidhistorian is deserving of mockery, but I think that she's just an autistic teen girl and she hasn't used the account in years so hopefully she's gotten over it. What made me laugh was the response.


It's not terribly funny in its own right except that this fucking guy decided to use a list of pronouns for Heliogabalus. "he/she", "his/hers/their". I don't know if this guy would normally give a shit about the pronouns of some kid who died almost two millennia ago or if it's just because the OP had "genderfluid" in her name (his vacillating and useless answer makes me think the former), but I thought it was worth sharing.

Always makes me laugh when people try to stan Elagabalus as a trans icon when some historians call him the most incompetent Roman emperor. This guy cycled through wives, dressed himself in wigs and makeup, and tried to get himself an amhole in the 3rd century. Even if you ignore that, he was kinda a dick because he forced senators to worship his sun god with him, married a priestess been he wanted his kids to be like gods (illegal; priestess who are found to have had sex are burned alive), and moved sacred items in Roman religion to his god's newly built temple so that everyone who wanted to pay respects of the gods associated with the sacred items had to pay respects to his sun god.

He was so bad that his grandmother that helped put him power ended up being the mastermind behind his assassination years later.

Yea they mean the little fat bump women get just above the bikini line, that some people claim is there to protect the uterus (but I can't find a source on that claim). There is what is called the Omentum, an abdominal fat sheet that protects your organs but it is not limited to the uterus, women or even humans for that matter. And as with any fat, too much of it is actually harmful.

I didn't understand it was anything other than a grandma bra by looking at the picture of the man. I still think the girl wearing the top is immodestly dressed and I wouldn't be comfortable eating there, but that's my choice as a consumer, and I understand it's a crop top, albeit an ugly one. There are crop tops that I don't really consider indecent by mainstream standards, but that isn't one of them.
