You know, I came to the realization this evening that Gen Zed is comparable to the failed animated sitcom Allen Gregory. What is Allen Gregory, you may ask? Well if you didn't catch it on Fox, here's the wikipedia page.

I watched a few episodes back in the day when it was still on air, and just as I predicted after giving up on the third episode, the show was cancelled right after season 1. Gen Zed suffers from the same problems that Allen Gregory does:
- They both play on current culture far too much to the point where, like
@Piga Dgrifm said, will be dated in a few years. Allen Gregory played on the recession, which isn't as bad now as it was back when, especially given it was kind of the show's main focus.
- Gen Zed plays the tranny card, Allen Gregory plays the gay card. Seriously, some characters in Allen Gregory just felt almost stereotypically gay without going into camp gay territory. And really, the whole premise of the show just seemed to focus too much on a kid being raised by his father and father's gay lover.
- Both share similar art styles. While Allen Gregory did have some decent animation (Wasn't as clunky as Gen Zed is, plus from what I can remember they didn't have many animation fuck ups like missing legs, missing frames, etc.), the art style has some similarities to Gen Zed.
- The jokes. My god, do both Gen Zed and Allen Gregory lack humor. They try hard, but fall flat on their asses. Although, I gotta give Allen Gregory some credit here. There was potential for some good humor, and I even got a couple chuckles out of the first two episodes, but it all just fell apart in the end. But unlike Allen Gregory, Gen Zed has no potential. It's just passive aggressive comment and pop culture reference after passive aggressive comment and pop culture reference, following by a dime store Trevor Philips "popping" a mentally challenged black kid in the dick.
